SUPER FLY, Based on 1972 Film, Steps Closer to Broadway Debut

SUPER FLY, the musical based on the 1972 film directed by Gordon Parks, has taken further steps toward its Broadway debut. A casting notice has gone out from The Mottola Group and The Dodgers Developmental Lab, seeking actors for an October workshop.

Ellen Burstyn Leads Labyrinth Theater Co.'s THE ATMOSPHERE; Opens 10/15

LAByrinth Theater Company has announced that stage and screen star, and LAByrinth Theater Company member, Ellen Burstyn (Tony Award, Emmy Award, and Academy Award-winner) will lead the cast of the World Premiere Production of The Atmosphere of Memory by David Bar Katz. Burstyn was last seen on the LAByrinth stage in Stephen Adly Guirgis' The Little Flower of East Orange. Performances begin Saturday, October 15th with Opening Night scheduled for October 30th at LAByrinth's new home, the Bank Street Theater (155 Bank Street) for a limited engagement through Sunday, November 13th.

When Hackmatack Playhouse Owner/Producer Michael Guptill greeted patrons preceding a show last Wednesday night, he mentioned that the next show, opening Wednesday, August 17 would be Alfred Hitchcock's 'The 39 Steps.' A woman from the audience shouted out, 'It's a great show, everyone must see it!' Guptill was pleased, 'Wow, there's an unplanned, spontaneous, compliment. It is a great play!' 'I'll be here!' she replied.
