Top honors included Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year, the W. Allison & Elizabeth Stubbs Davis Award, the Thomas Stofka Award, Employee of the Year, and the Commissioner's Award.

As the Irish prepare to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, The Farmington Players Barn is honoring their heritage with the play, 'From The Mountains of Mourne to the Mines of Montana.' It is a little known tale of 'The West,' that brought Irish ancestors to the Detroit area. Director Sue Rogers of West Bloomfield says, the play is 'dedicated to their valiant spirit.' Rogers emphasizes that the work by Lisa Hayes 'provides a very personal opportunity to share that pride in our heritage; to sing songs, tell stories and enjoy each other's company-what the Irish refer to as ‘craic.'

Junior Theater Fest Renamed 'The FreddieG's' in Honor of Freddie Gershon

The Junior Theatre Fest will pay tribute to the leadership and dedication of Music Theatre International (MTI) Chairman Freddie Gershon by renaming its annual student awards for excellence in theater 'The FreddieG's.' In 1995, he created MTI Education, the first educational division in a major musical theater licensing firm, which over the past 15 years has literally transformed the marketplace for age appropriate performance material for young performers. During this year's festival, taking place January 15-17, composer Stephen Schwartz ('Wicked') will be on hand to celebrate Gershon's accomplishments within musical theatre.
