Showtime Brings THE CHI and New Comedy BLACK MONDAY to 2018 Essence Festival

SHOWTIME is bringing its hot new comedy BLACK MONDAY and hit drama THE CHI to 2018 ESSENCE Festival. On Friday, July 6, THE CHI creator and executive producer Lena Waithe will headline a keynote conversation on the ESSENCE Empowerment Experience Stage and will later appear in the Great Hall to discuss THE CHI. All 500 fans who attend Waithe's Q&A at the Great Hall will receive $25 gift certificates to the SHOWTIME streaming service. On Saturday, July 7, BLACK MONDAY star Regina Hall returns to the Festival after the success of Girls Trip to debut the first footage from the highly anticipated new SHOWTIME comedy series exclusively for Essence Festival attendees, followed by a moderated Q&A. At the BLACK MONDAY conversation, SHOWTIME will give out 40 tickets to select fans for a meet and greet with Hall at the Fan Zone immediately following her Q&A. The debut season of BLACK MONDAY and season two of THE CHIwill premiere on the network in 2019.

Over eight million people have lived to tell the tale of one of the most successful - and terrifying - theatre events ever staged, and it's coming to shock audiences in Chicago this fall. The Woman in Black - London's long-running West End play -  will open at Chicago's Royal George Theatre in November with all the stage thrills that have led audiences in London to shriek in fear for 30 years.

Showtime Orders BLACK MONDAY Comedy Starring Andrew Rannells, Don Cheadle, & Regina Hall

SHOWTIME has ordered the comedy series BLACK MONDAY, starring and executive produced by Emmy® nominated and Golden Globe® winning actor Don Cheadle – returning to SHOWTIME after a five-season run as star and executive producer of HOUSE OF LIES – with two-time Tony Award® nominee and Grammy®winner Andrew Rannells (Girls) and Regina Hall (Girls Trip) also leading the cast. The series was created by David Caspe (Happy Endings) and Jordan Cahan (My Best Friend's Girl), who will serve as executive producers and showrunners. Emmy nominees Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (Preacher, Superbad), who will also executive produce, directed the pilot. With an 10-episode order, BLACK MONDAY, a co-production between SHOWTIME and Sony Pictures Television Studios, will premiere in 2019. The announcement was made today by David Nevins, President and CEO of Showtime Networks Inc.

Alexandra Silber to Lead CAMELOT at Shakespeare Theatre Company

Shakespeare Theatre Company today announces the cast of Lerner and Loewe's multiple Tony Award-winning musical Camelot. Directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul (Kiss Me, Kate; Man of La Mancha), the classic musical will play at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St NW) from May 22 through July 1, concluding STC's 2017-2018 mainstage season.

Jonathan Kite to Lead Cast of THE NERD At George Street Playhouse

George Street Playhouse, located at 103 College Farm Road in New Brunswick, today announced Jonathan Kite (TV's 2 Broke Girls) will play the titular role in Larry Shue's The Nerd, on stage April 24 - May 20, 2018. Kevin Cahoon, who has appeared in many Broadway productions, including The Wedding Singer and The Lion King, will direct the popular comedy, which closes out GSP's mainstage season.

THE NERD Set to Open at Bowie Playhouse

Prince George's Little Theatre will produce 'The Nerd,' a classic farce by Larry Shue, at the Bowie Playhouse from August 11 - 26. All Friday performances and the Saturday performances August 12 and 19 are at 8 p.m. The Sunday performances on August 13 and 20 and the closing performance on Saturday, August 26 are 2 p.m. matinees. The play is directed by John Degnan and produced by Malia Murray.
