Pacific Symphony Music Director Carl St.Clair, who celebrates his 25th anniversary with the orchestra in 2014-15, has accepted a one-year appointment as music director of the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica (NSO), beginning in 2014. This position is in addition to his commitment to Pacific Symphony. The appointment was made by the National Music Centre of the Ministry of Culture and Youth of Costa Rica (CNM) after an arduous selection process that began in July 2011. St.Clair has served as guest conductor for the NSO on three occasions during the past three years, achieving a great relationship with the musicians and leaving a positive impression on the public, according to the NSO. St.Clair is scheduled to conduct six concerts for the NSO's official season, and is also considering special concerts and tours throughout the country. Much like his work with Pacific Symphony, St.Clair is furthering his commitment to education by also establishing a conductor mentorship and master class program with the National Music Centre.

Tetreault, Director of Ford's Theatre Society, announced the special event schedule for the third year of The Lincoln Legacy Project-this year thematically connected with the Society's production of the stage play The Laramie Project (September 27-October 27, 2013), and recognizing the 15 years since Matthew Shepard was abducted and killed in an anti-gay hate crime in Laramie, Wyoming. The multi-year Lincoln Legacy Project encourages people of differing viewpoints to engage in meaningful and respectful dialogue about diversity and understanding through a range of programming including performances, panel discussions, special museum exhibitions, education programs and more. ROBERTO VILLANUEVA, born in the Philippines, is the Executive/Artistic Director and Founder of BalaSole Dance Company. He trained briefly at SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance and received his BA in Dance Performance from University at Buffalo. Acclaimed nationally and internationally for his abilities as a dance artist, Roberto has performed, conducted dance residencies, judged dance competitions, and taught master classes in U.S., Europe, and Asia. He has worked with renowned choreographers such as Dwight Rhoden, Kevin Wynn, Milton Myers, and Eleo Pomare and performed with dance companies such as Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company, Steeledance, Marie-Christine Giordano Dance, Pick of the Crop Dance, and Buffalo City Ballet. Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced the roster for Lincoln Center's fourth multidisciplinary White Light Festival, October 24 through November 23, 2013. The Festival's focus is music's capacity to illuminate the many dimensions of our interior lives, with a particular emphasis this year on the power of the voice. Spanning numerous musical traditions, genres, and disciplines, the Festival will offer 23 performances, films, and events featuring seven premieres and debuts by artists and companies from more than a dozen countries, including France, India, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, the U.K., Mali, Estonia, Italy, Austria, Canada and the U.S. New to this edition of the Festival is White Light on Film, film screenings followed by discussions with their directors. Other Festival components include: a panel discussion focused on the subject of time, pre- and post-performance artist discussions, and the popular post-performance White Light Lounges.
The New Group launches its 2013-2014 Off-Broadway season with the New York premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Beth Henley's The Jacksonian, arriving in Fall 2013. Directed by Tony Award winner Robert Falls, this production features Ed Harris, Glenne Headly, Amy Madigan and Bill Pullman. The Jacksonian was first produced at the Geffen Playhouse in 2012. In Winter 2014, as the second production in the company's season, The New Group delivers the world premiere of Thomas Bradshaw's Intimacy, directed by Scott Elliott. Lyric Opera of Chicago announces a special performance of Andre Previn's A Streetcar Named Desire for high-school and college students with tickets for only $20. The operatic version of the Tennessee Williams classic will be seen in a semi-staged presentation with the Lyric Opera Orchestra onstage, with singers Beverly O' Regan Thiele (Blanche), Kiera Duffy (Stella), David Adam Moore (Stanley), and Scott Ramsay (Mitch). Evan Rogister conducts this presentation, which is directed by Brad Dalton.
