The 39 Steps - 2009 - US Tour History , Info & More

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have...(mystery chords!) THE 39 STEPS, Broadway's most intriguing, most thrilling, most riotous, most UNMISSABLE comedy smash! The mind-blowing cast of 4 plays over 150 characters in this fast-paced tale of an ordinary man on an extraordinarily entertaining adventure. WINNER! 2 TONY AWARDS® ! HILARIOUS FUN FOR THEATRE-LOVERS OF ALL AGES!

In THE 39 STEPS, a comedic play based on Alfred Hitchcock's classic 1935 film, Richard Hannay is pursued by police and escapes to London after a woman is found dead in his flat. A once average and decent man, Hannay is followed as his entanglement with murder, double agents, and seductive women grows. A riveting and enrapturing sequence of scenes follow one after another, as suspense builds, complemented by slapstick humor and farcical dialogue. Requiring the utmost excellence in acting, the scarce scenery and minimal use of props only add to these comedic elements, as folding chairs are transformed into speeding cars and suitcases become the roof of a moving train!

Serving as a side-splitting spy thriller, the play makes references and uses musical excerpts from other Hitchcock films and invites audiences to view a new spin off of a famous work. Here’s the chance to see Broadway’s longest running comedy and a comical side of Hitchcock never seen before!
