Back by popular demand for a strictly limited engagement, the FolksbieneRU and Lost & Found Project are proud to announce to return of the family musical The King of Chelm this November. The King of Chelm is written by Boris Zilberman and directed by the acclaimed Israeli actor/director Gera Sandler. The production features original score by composer Dmitri 'Zisl' Slepovitch, with arrangement by Alex Ryaboy. Stage and multimedia design by L2CoLAB. The King of Chelm will run from November 14 - 29, 2015 at the Kraine Theatre (85 East 4th Street, NYC). On November 18th and 19th at 7pm in New York City, Tony Award-nominated singer & actress Melissa Errico will return to Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette St.) in "Sing The Silence,' an entirely new, autobiographical cabaret show co-written with Adam Gopnik (The New Yorker) about how one singer's descent into 100 days of silence -- total silence -- compelled her towards an inventory of a lifetime's experience, on and off the stage. The show will include songs by women songwriters such as Georgia Stitt, Marcy Heisler, Jonathan Brooke, Susan Werner, Patricia Barber, Laura Nyro, Joni Mitchell and Dorothy Parker, as well as the title song written for Errico by Gopnik and Scott Frankel; and the New York debut of music by Jeanine Tesori. In his seventh concert at Pace, Fred Barton brings the power of Mercer's music and lyrics front and center, with a 14-piece orchestra and a cast of 16 Broadway singers and dancers, with direction and choreography by Scott Thompson. The cast was headlined by Damon Kirsche, Tony nominee Lee Roy Reams, two time Tony nominee Vivian Reed, Nick Spangler, Tony Nominee Lauren Worsham, and Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba. It's a story that takes too long to tell but the jazz sizzles and Miravel definitely has potential. Billed as a jazz musical by Jake Broder, co-author of the hit musical Louis and Keely, Live at the Sahara, it really falls under the 'play with songs' category, currently more talk than music. Broder's compositions are expertly written, easily capturing the improvisational style of Monk and the sophistication of Ellington. They are, at the moment, one of the few places where passion authentically ignites in this spin on the Cyrano tale.  (more...)

FitzandStartz Productions launches its inaugural season in November 2016 with an original musical for all ages. Winter Tales features book & lyrics by Rachel Lampert and music by Lesley Greene, the founders of the new company. Winter Tales runs for four performances only: Saturday, November 14 at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, and Saturday, November 21 at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. All performances will be held at Kitchen Theatre Company. THE KING OF CHELM is written by Boris Zilberman and directed by the acclaimed Israeli actor/director Gera Sandler.
