Today, October 22, 2013, marks the official 50th anniversary of the National Theatre of Great Britain. Tony Award-winner and two-time Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington will star as Walter Lee Younger in Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, opposite film, television and Tony Award-winning stage star Diahann Carroll as Lena Younger, on Broadway next spring. Washington's character, Walter Lee Younger, is described in Hansberry's script as 'a lean, intense young man in his middle thirties'. But Washington is 60. Producer Scott Rudin addressed this age difference in an interview published today on Newsday.

This play replaces the originally planned production of The Invisible Hand by Ayad Akhtar.

Continuing its 25th Anniversary Season, Lookingglass Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Still Alice, adapted and directed by Ensemble Member Christine Mary Dunford, based on the novel by Lisa Genova. The production runs April 10 - May 19, 2013 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson.
