Bang on a Can to Present Two-Day Tribute to Robert Rauschenberg at MoMA

In conjunction with The Museum of Modern Art's exhibition Robert Rauschenberg: Among Friends (May 21-September 17, 2017), Pulitzer prize-winning composer David Lang and the music collective Bang on a Can will present a pair of concerts on Tuesday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 24 at 7pm at the museum's T1 (Titus 1) Theater (11 W 53rd St.), featuring commentary exploring these artistic exchanges and their legacy for contemporary music.

On January 6 and 7 at 7:30 PM, Music Director Thierry Fischer conducts the first Utah Symphony performance of 2017 with Tchaikovsky, Ives, and Webern. Tchaikovsky's famous violin concerto will be performed by guest artist Noah Bendix-Balgley in his Utah Symphony debut. Utah Symphony's performance cycle of Charles Ives' symphonies continues with Symphony No.2, joining Brahms and Beethoven as three complete composer cycles programmed on the O.C. Tanner Company Masterworks Series this season. Webern's Variations for Orchestra rounds out the program with a later work inspired by nature. Tickets start at $21 ($15 for students), and can be purchased at www.utahsymphony.org or by calling (801) 533-6683.

San Francisco Opera Announces 2017 Adler Fellows

San Francisco Opera Center Director Sheri Greenawald today announced the thirteen recipients of the 2017 Adler Fellowship. Nine singers, three pianist/apprentice coaches and one director will take part in the program-a multi-year performance-oriented residency offering advanced young artists intensive individual training, coaching and professional seminars, as well as a wide range of performance opportunities. Adler Fellows are selected from the young artists who have participated in the Merola Opera Program. The prestigious fellowship has nurtured the development of more than 175 young artists since its inception.

Writers Theatre Extends Stephen Sondheim's COMPANY

Writers Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, announces a one-week extension to Company, featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth. The production is directed by William Brown. Company features original orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick, Orchestral Reductions by Ian Weinberger, music direction by Tom Vendafreddo and choreography by Brock Clawson. The show, originally slated to run through July 31, 2016, will add an additional week, through August 7, in the Alexandra C. and John D. Nichols Theatre at 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe.
