South Street Seaport TKTS to Reopen at Permanent Home, 10/1

Theatre Development Fund (TDF) announced that it will reopen its South Street Seaport TKTS Discount Booth at its permanent location at the corner of Front and John Streets on Tuesday, October 1 at 11am. TDF will be closing their temporary Seaport TKTS booth at Fulton and South Streets, (which opened on July 5 as part of the Seaport's SEE/CHANGE Program) on Monday, September 30 in order to move back to the TKTS location which was severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy last October. To accommodate downtown theatre goers on Monday, September 30, TDF will open its booth in Downtown Brooklyn (which is usually closed on Mondays) from 11am to 6pm. (more...)

Photo Flash: NYC Parks Hosts 'Go Park' Kick-Off Event for Pool Season

NYC Parks Commissioner Veronica M. White today joined Council Member and Chair of the Committee on Parks and Recreation Melissa Mark-Viverito, Commissioner of the Department for the Aging Lilliam Barrios-Paoli, President of MetLife Foundation Dennis White and neighborhood children at Thomas Jefferson Pool in East Harlem to kick off the city's outdoor pool season and to announce Go Park, a campaign encouraging all New Yorkers to discover something new in the more than 29,000 acres of parks and open spaces across the city. Thanks to restored funding from the City Council, all 55 public outdoor pools will once again be open for the season, and as is the case each year, they will close on Labor Day (Monday, September 2). Tamarie Cooper's OLD AS HELL is meh. NOT! In fact, this year's offering in the cherished tradition of Houston theatre's summer line-up sparkles with clever wit and ebullient hilarity. This may only be my second summer to see a Tamarie Cooper musical, but in so many ways I found this one better than last year's raucously irreverent DOOMSDAY REVUE. Maybe with one Tamarie Cooper show under my belt, I had a better idea of what to expect. Maybe like a good wine Tamarie Cooper is only getting better with age. Or maybe it's both.
