It's time for a return to Oz as Moonlight Stage Productions' 33rd summer season, the first planned by new Artistic Director Steven Glaudini, continues with the family classic THE WIZARD OF OZ, with performances from July 24 to August 10. THE WIZARD OF OZ is presented by Moonlight for the first time as an adult production, with adult actors in the leading roles of the Royal Shakespeare Company version. The City Theatre continues its summer season with the Tennessee Williams American classic, A Streetcar Named Desire, which revolutionized modern drama and is still an undisputed masterpiece from one of the great voices of the American theatre. Directed by Jeff Hinkle and starring Rachel McGinnis Meissner and Tim Brown, the production runs July 25 - August 18, 2013.

Featuring a book by Tony Award nominee Hunter Foster (Little Shop of Horrors) and music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum (Vanities), Summer of '42 is based upon the novel and screenplay by Herman Raucher. Tony Award nominee Lonny Price (A Class Act) makes his directorial return to the Bucks County Playhouse following A Grand Night for Singing, the first show of last year's grand re-opening.

Written in 1895, this 'Serious Comedy for Trivial People,' as playwright Oscar Wilde termed it, offers situations and comedy that remain timeless and fresh. The characters are memorable, from the careless and self-centered Jack to the innocent and impressionable Cecily. Wilde skewers Victorian society in a manner that leaves audiences laughing from start to finish.

Bard SummerScape 2013 Season Announced

Russia's profound and far-reaching impact on 20th-century culture will be explored at the 2013 annual Bard SummerScape festival, which once again offers an extraordinary summer of music, opera, theater, dance, film, and cabaret, keyed to the theme of the 24th annual Bard Music Festival, Stravinsky and His World. Presented in the striking Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts and other venues on Bard College's bucolic Hudson River campus, the seven-week festival opens on July 6 with the first of two performances of A Rite (2013) by the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and SITI Company, and closes on August 18 with a party in Bard's beloved Spiegeltent, which returns for the full seven weeks. Complementing the Bard Music Festival's exploration of “Stravinsky and His World,” some of the great Russian-born composer's most captivating compatriots provide key SummerScape highlights. These include the first fully-staged American production of Sergey Taneyev's opera Oresteia; the world premiere of an original stage adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov's seminal novel The Master and Margarita; and a film festival titled “Between Traditions: Stravinsky's Legacy and Russian Emigré Cinema.” Together, SummerScape's offerings will continue Bard's yearlong tenth-anniversary celebrations for the Frank Gehry-designed Fisher Center, which commence with a month of special performances in April.
