Join an unforgettable collection of liars, lovers, addicts and outcasts as they struggle to uncover the truth and reclaim the stone before its curse destroys them all. In light of recent tragedies in Japan, Catalyst Ranch (Chicago's premiere unique meeting and event space) in association with Porchlight Music Theatre (Chicago's premiere music theatre) brings together some of the best talent from the Chicago theatre scene for a ONE NIGHT ONLY cabaret to benefit Japanese disaster relief funds. Composer, Lyricist, Playwright & Performer John Scoullar Passes Away at 62

John Scoullar, born in Providence, R.I., July 26,1949 has passed away after a short illness. A composer, lyricist, playwright and performer, John's work has been enjoyed for more than 40 years around the country. With Rick Cummins, he wrote the musical and dramatic adaptations of Antoine St. Exupery's 'The Little Prince' which will open The New Victory Theater's fall season this October 2011. With playwright Joseph Kavanagh he wrote 'Old Fashion Bargain Days' at Playwright's Horizon, 'Canticle' at Hartman Conservatory Theatre, the musical 'The Legend of Finn McCool and 'Hello, Dears' in which he starred in at the Players Theatre. NY Philharmonic Announces Radio Broadcast Details

In May 2011, The New York Philharmonic This Week - the two-hour, national weekly and international radio program of concerts by the New York Philharmonic, hosted by actor Alec Baldwin - begins with commercial New York Philharmonic recordings of past performances. They include Bloch's Concerto Grosso No. 1 (conducted by Charles Munch, with pianist Walter Hendl as soloist, recorded 1948); Ben-Haim's Sweet Psalmist of Israel (conducted by Leonard Bernstein, with Sylvia Marlowe, harpsichord, and Christina Stavrache, harp, recorded 1959); and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 13, BabiYar (conducted by Kurt Masur, with baritone Sergei Leiferkus and the Men of the New York Choral Artists, Joseph Flummerfelt, director, recorded 1993). The following week pianist Emanuel Ax - who is celebrating his 100th performance with the Philharmonic - will play Debussy's Estampes for solo piano, followed by Messiaen's Couleurs de la cité céleste, conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert, who will also lead the Orchestra in Mahler's Symphony No. 5. In a recent interview with the Associated Press, HOW TO SUCCEED star Daniel Radcliffe reflected on how his Harry Potter fame made it possible for him to star in a Broadway show. Radcliffe commented: 'All the opportunities that it's opened for me are something that would not have happened had it not been for Harry Potter. When I was doing 'Equus,' I couldn't sing the Milky Bar tune correctly without making up a few of the notes, which is a long way from that to doing a Broadway musical.' (more...)
