Boyle Heights Museum To Present Exhibit ROYBAL: A Multi-Racial Catalyst For Democracy

Josefina Lopez, Co-Founder of the Boyle Heights Museum and Founding Artistic Director of CASA 0101 Theater and Dr. George J. Sanchez, Co-Founder of the Boyle Heights Museum and a USC Professor of History and American Studies, announced today they will present their third exhibition for the Boyle Heights Museum, ROYBAL: A Multi-Racial Catalyst for Democracy, to be housed in the Jean Deleage Arts Gallery in the lobby of CASA 0101 Theater, 2102 East First Street (at St. Louis Street), Boyle Heights, CA 90033. He was born to a father who is Catholic and accepts his son unconditionally and a mother who is born Methodist and is homophobic - but most of all, she tells her son throughout his life that she never wanted to have him.

Directors Scott Weinstein and Hannah Dawe and Music Director Jermaine Hill will lead a Valentine's Day themed event, LOVE IS LOVE IS LOVE: A concert benefiting Planned Parenthood, the Trevor Project and the Southern Poverty Law Center. The Missionary Society of St. Columban commonly known as the 'Columban Fathers' is a missionary Catholic society of apostolic life founded in Ireland in 1916 and approved by the Vatican in 1918. Initially, it was known as the Maynooth Mission to China. Members may be priests, seminarians or lay workers. Since 1918, it has been sharing the Gospel in solidarity with the poor throughout the world. Today, Columban missionaries including priests, Sisters and lay missionaries work in fifteen countries around the globe in conjunction with lay men and women within the local communities.

Legendary lutenist Hopkinson Smith, will perform Dowland's Europe: The Winds of Change. Celebrating the 450th anniversary of his birth, the performance will take place on Thursday, 7 November 2013 at the Renaissance Library of the Fabbri Mansion located on 7 East 95th Street. The Library, built during the Renaissance as part of the Ducal Palace of Urbino in Italy, was brought to New York during WWI.
