GOOD MORNING, THEATERATI for April 28, 2017
by Jeffrey Ellis - Apr 28, 2017

GOOD MORNING, THEATERATI! This morning (which according to our watch is Friday, April 28) we come to you to pose this musical question: What have they done to poor Heather Morris on Dancing With the Stars? Seriously, what did they do? We don't watch that show but have picked up some rumblings on the mean streets of Music City that intrigue is afoot among the over-teased and body-glittered cast of the ABC Monday night juggernaut - please fill us in, theaterati. Inquiring minds want to know.

Lyric Stage presents the World Premiere of Larry Gatlin's QUANAH
by A.A. Cristi - Mar 8, 2017

Quanah, the Parker Family Saga, is a new musical written by Grammy Award-winning country music legend Larry Gatlin. It is the story of Quanah Parker, the last Comanche chief, his mother Cynthia Ann Parker and the Parker Family settling in Texas and the survival and ascendancy of the great Comanche people.  It is, in part, a tragic, sad, heartbreaking story-a story of war, bloodshed, death and heartbreak-but it is, more importantly, a story celebrating the strength and power of the human spirit. Gatlin's wife Janis-who says he is never wrong-believes that it is the best music he has ever written.

BWW Review: SPLIT is a Tense, Artistic, and Compelling Return to Form for Shyamalan
by Matt Tamanini - Jan 27, 2017

For a generation, M. Night Shyamalan changed the way that people viewed movies. With the words, 'I see dead people,' he became one of the most fascinating filmmakers in Hollywood, and, for a five-year period, rode nearly universal critical and box office success to near-superstardom. However, even though 2004's THE VILLAGE did a healthy $257 million at the box office, it was his most critically derided film to that point.

BWW Interview: Growth, Change, and Empathy: Bill Nolte Muses on FIDDLER and Art
by Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold - Jul 15, 2016

'It's all about growing and being willing to change…about people finding a way to look at things from both sides and learn to empathize.' The soft-spoken man sitting opposite me thoughtfully answers my question about the universality of the musical theatre piece in which he stars, Fiddler on the Roof. There is a gentle, heartfelt quality to all his comments, and one understands immediately why Bill Nolte makes an ideal Tevye. The Broadway actor, singer, and visual artist makes his Maine State Music Theatre debut on July 20 in a part he has played twice before, and he waxes eloquent about the experience in Maine and his reunion with director/choreographer Gary John LaRosa and many of the veteran cast members.
