So, today, we are going to be taking a look at a litany of the finest moments from Sondheim's post-SWEENEY TODD musicals that are highlighted in LOOK, I MADE A HAT and perhaps discover a few of the many reasons why Sondheim's musicals - whether late-period or early on- are the best of the best Broadway has to offer - now or ever. And, what an absolutely mind-blowing list it is - and what a masterpiece of a book!

In the days that followed the 9/11 attacks, Circle leaders and members of the Assassins production team were forced to consider closing the show (included in Sondheim's musical is the character of Samuel Byck, an unsuccessful presidential assassin who talks vividly about flying an airplane into the White House to kill President Richard Nixon in 1968. As Circle leaders discussed whether to shutter the show for a weekend, or to cancel the remaining three weeks of the show's run, the show's cast members debated whether or not they could justify to themselves, their friends and their families their own decision to continue with the show in the days just after the deadliest attack ever on American soil.

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre announced today that it has appointed Company Member and Associate Producer Jenn Thompson as new Co-Artistic Director. Simon Jones, Co-Artistic Director since 1999, is stepping down from the position after 12 years of service to TACT, although he will remain an involved Company Member.

DARE TO SPEAK PRODUCTIONS is pleased to announce the World Premiere production of I PLEAD GUILTY, written and directed by Natalia Pelevine, based on the real events of the Moscow theatre siege of 2002. It is adapted from Pelevine's play In Your Hands, which, after a successful London run, was translated into Russian and banned there by the government officials after just one performance. The Joffrey Ballet's 2010-2011 Stars season concludes this spring with Rising Stars, a mixed repertory program featuring two World Premieres by Edwaard Liang and Yuri Possokhov, plus a company premiere by Julia Adam. Rising Stars will be presentedfor the final time at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, 50 E. Congress Parkway, May 15.
