Casting has been announced for Playhouse on Park's upcoming production of 'Cabaret'.

An article in today's The Wrap reports that Emma Stone is currently in talks to make her Broadway debut in the upcoming revival of CABARET in the role of Sally Bowles. The story cites 'an individual with knowledge of her plans' as the source.

Now according to the New York Times, Roundabout Theater Company, which revived the musical back in 1998, is planning to bring the show back to Studio 54 in early 2014. Composer John Kander revealed to NYT that a revival is indeed in the works, with Alan Cumming attached to reprise his role as the Emcee. Rehearsals are planned to begin in January 2014.

Set in 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power, it focuses on nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub and revolves around the 19-year-old English cabaret performer Sally Bowles and her relationship with the young American writer Cliff Bradshaw. Overseeing the action is the Master of Ceremonies at the Kit Kat Klub which serves as a constant metaphor for the tenuous and threatening state of late Weimar Germany throughout the show.

Even though 'Cabaret' is of the 'tried and true' variety of musical theatre and could have, therefore, resulted in yet another ho-hum production, Keegan's intimate setting, attention to detail, and mostly strong casting among the leads make this production ultimately memorable and, at times, even a bit daring.

Although Ann Hampton Callaway has been performing as a nightclub nightingale for around 30 years, I feel like I've caught her act in the absolute prime of her career. The Public Theater announced today that Public Theater alumna and Academy Award nominee Anne Hathaway, who played Viola in the critically acclaimed 2009 Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night, will perform a one-night-only concert, Perfectly Marvelous: The Songs of Cabaret with Anne Hathaway and Friends, on Wednesday, October 24 at 7 p.m. at Joe's Pub to celebrate and support The Public Theater's revitalization of its downtown home at Astor Place. KickstArt's CABARET, the classic musical by John Kander, Fred Ebb and Joe Masteroff based on Christopher Isherwood's semi-autobiographical GOODBYE TO BERLIN, has opened at last in Cape Town. A professional production of the show has not been seen in this city for far too long and, in this fantastic production, its return is a welcome one.

"In here, life is beautiful," the Emcee deviously purrs to the audience at the start of CABARET, now playing at Austin's City Theatre Company. Though he is referring to Berlin's seedy Kit Kat Klub, the same can be said of The City Theatre. In here, life is many things: clever, engrossing, and always beautiful, even when the proceedings turn dark and sinister.

The Daily Mail reports that director Rufus Norris, fresh off the debut of his film Broken at Cannes, has cast Michelle Ryan as Sally in the upcoming West End revival of Cabaret.

The West Side YMCA's Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater presents its 2nd annual benefit cabaret, Little Theater, Big Dreams tonight, May 21st. The Off-Broadway gem, located inside the historic West Side Y, will play host to powerful performances from Broadway's brightest alongside the Kids Company, a group of young triple-threats-in-training.
