The New York Philharmonic will present Stephen Sondheim's groundbreaking Company, with an all-star cast led by Neil Patrick Harris, star of the hit television series, How I Met Your Mother, on April 7-9, 2011. The award-winning musical will be produced and directed by Lonny Price, who directed and co-produced last season's SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert!, and will be conducted by Sondheim specialist Paul Gemignani, with the original orchestrations for a 35-piece orchestra by Jonathan Tunick. More details will be announced at a later date.

Back in the day, the great ladies of the theatre were known to provide their own dresses and gowns as they toured the provinces in contemporary dramas and comedies.  And while today's Off-Broadway productions generally have costume designers to handle such matters, at least one Obie-winner, Donna Lynne Champlin, is doing her part to keep that tradition alive in Transport Group's enchanting production of See Rock City & Other Destinations.  And as the newlywed actress explains, the gown she wears in the musical's final scene isn't the only item that had previously played a starring role in her wedding ceremony...

Cygnet Announces Cast For THE VORTEX Staged Reading 6/21

Noël Coward is alive and well at Cygnet Theatre! With the current run of Coward's PRIVATE LIVES receiving raves on the mainstage, Associate Artistic Director Francis Gercke has assembled a stellar cast of San Diego favorites to deliver a staged reading of his most famous drama, THE VORTEX. The one-night only reading will be performed Monday, June 21st, 2010 at 7:00pm in Cygnet's Old Town Theatre. This performance marks the continuation of Cygnet's highly popular Playwright Companion Series which seeks to deepen the theatre-going experience for its audiences with uniquely diverse 'partner pieces' to each of Cygnet's main-stage shows.
