On 31 March 2010, Billy Elliot the Musical will celebrate its fifth birthday in London's West End. The critically acclaimed, internationally award-winning musical opened at the Victoria Palace Theatre in 2005 and has subsequently been seen by over 4.5 million people worldwide.

Composer Elton John was first introduced to the film 'Billy Elliot' during a 2000 screening at the Cannes International Film Festival. The movie's emotional story line touched John who found himself breaking down. His partner, David Furnish, who was accompanying him at the time, tells the Chicago Tribune, 'He was inconsolable...I thought, ‘How the hell am I going to get him out of Cannes without him being photographed?'
Open Auditions Announced for North American Tours of BILLY ELLIOT 3/13

Working Title Films and Old Vic Productions will be holding open auditions in Toronto on Saturday, March 13 to find boys ages nine through twelve to play the roles of ‘Billy' and ‘Michael' in the North American companies of Billy Elliot the Musical. The auditions will take place at 509 DANCE (509 Parliament Street at Carlton Street) in Toronto. Sign-up will begin at 12:30 p.m.

According to the New York Times, the hit Broadway musical Billy Elliot will be making its way to South Korea by Auguust 2010. The producers of 'Billy Elliot the Musical' said that a Korean-language version of the show, will play in Seoul. Years in the making, the South Korean production includes a cast of local actors including four young Billys.
