On April 2, THE ADDAMS FAMILY star Nathan Lane appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman to talk about all things ADDAMS. In addition to discussing some show highlights, he revealed what it was like to perform for the Obama family, who recently took a trip to New York to see the production. Lane reveals that First Lady Michelle Obama herself took the time to write a hand written thank-you note to Lane for giving her one of the 'best nights she's ever had in the theater.' ADDAMS FAMILY Stars Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth sat down with USA Today for a Q&A on the show, their quirky characters and what they feel will surprise people about the new musical.

The Addams Family is coming out of the box strong, taking in $1,192,213 from its first seven preview performances, Variety reports. Houses have averaged nearly 99% per night.

The New York Philharmonic will present SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert on March 15 and Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. This celebration of the 80th birthday of the great Broadway and film composer/lyricist will include his most enduring orchestral music and songs - performed, in some cases, by the stars of the original Broadway cast productions - in addition to rarely-heard material. Joining the celebration will be (in alphabetical order) Michael Cerveris, Victoria Clark, Jason Danieley, Nathan Gunn, George Hearn, Patti LuPone, Marin Mazzie, Audra McDonald, Donna Murphy, Mandy Patinkin, Bernadette Peters, and others to be announced, including surprise guests. The new musical is based on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams, and will open Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, with previews underway now. The disc will be available everywhere in June 2010.

Zaks will be billed as the show's 'Creative Consultant' with Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch still listed as directors and production designers, but it's been made clear that Jerry Zaks is the new man in charge. He tells the Times that he is looking forward to 'taking this original musical to the next level.' As a result of taking this job, Zaks will no longer direct All About Me, which stars Dame Edna and Michael Feinstein.
