Performances at the Hilbert Circle Theatre will be Today, October 2 at 11:00am (which is a truncated program for the Coffee Pops Series) and 8:00PM; Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 8:00pm and Sunday, Oct 4, 2015 the Broadway Divas concert will move to Honeywell Center in Wabash, IN for a 3:00PM show.

Barbara Cook Memoir to Hit Shelves at Last in 2016?

Back in 2011, it was announenced that Broadway living legend Barbara Cook would collaborate with New York Times theatre critic Charles Isherwood on a memoir. The book never made it to the shelves for its previously announced fall 2012 release, but now it seems that fans might still have reason to rejoice. According to Amazon, the still untitled memoir will be released by HarperCollins on May 16, 2016.

At Manhattan School of Music's 2015 gala tonight, which honored Bebe Neuwirth and welcomed special guests Angela Lansbury, Barbara Cook, Marlo Thomas, Phil Donahue, and Tommy Tune in the Broadway Melody at the Rainbow Room, MSM President James Gandre announced that, beginning in fall 2016, MSM will become the first-ever independent music conservatory in New York (and only the second in the country) to offer a degree program in musical theater.

Las Vegas' Smith Center for the Performing Arts is an extraordinary place. It's diverse programs encompass just about all of the performing arts. The building, designed by David M. Schwartz is a Neo Art Deco design and features a 47-bell carillon housed in a 17-story carillon tower. The design, Schwartz said at the opening, was chosen to echo the design elements of Hoover Dam, located 30 miles away. It is the first performing arts center in the United States to be Gold LEED certified. After three years of planning and construction, it opened on March 10, 2012.

STAGE TUBE: Anita Darian Dies at Age 87

Anita Darian, a soprano whose four-octave voice earned her the nickname “The Armenian Yma Sumac” and spawned an eclectic 50-year career that ranged from performances with the New York City Opera, Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic to big-band jazz concerts, co-starring roles with Barbara Cook, and hit pop recordings that included “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” is dead at 87. A longtime resident of East Atlantic Beach, L.I., she died Sunday, Feb. 1 at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside of complications from surgery.
