What happened Thursday night though, was not only a trip down memory lane with a woman who created roles in Les Miserables, City of Angels, and one of my all time favorites, A Class Act, but it was a master class in how to perform a song. She wouldn't still be around if she wasn't damn good at what she does.

Longtime Broadway performer TERRI WHITE took The Kennedy Center stage in a farewell solo performance that covered her many roles, thoughts on life and love of her family and the theatre.

Known for her powerful and riveting vocals, Broadway's Darling N'Kenge (Motown: The Musical and Sondheim and Sondheim) will grace the stage in a Broadway Diva's collaboration with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of conductor, Jack Everly for four concerts. Performances at the Hilbert Circle Theatre will be Today, October 2 at 11:00am (which is a truncated program for the Coffee Pops Series) and 8:00PM; Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 8:00pm and Sunday, Oct 4, 2015 the Broadway Divas concert will move to Honeywell Center in Wabash, IN for a 3:00PM show.

DROP DEAD PERFECT, the madcap comedy starring the legendary Everett Quinton returns to the Theatre at St. Clements (423 West 46 Street - between 9th and 10th Avenues)  and begins previews on Wednesday, August 19th, for a limited eight week engagement.The official opening is set for Sunday, August 23rd .  DROP DEAD PERFECT  is produced by Penguin Rep Theatre, Morton Wolkowitz, Barbara Freitag and Jamie deRoy. Broadway's 40 theatres aren't the only places to catch performances from your favorite stars! Well after Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. Back in 2011, it was announenced that Broadway living legend Barbara Cook would collaborate with New York Times theatre critic Charles Isherwood on a memoir. The book never made it to the shelves for its previously announced fall 2012 release, but now it seems that fans might still have reason to rejoice. According to Amazon, the still untitled memoir will be released by HarperCollins on May 16, 2016.

N'Kenge (Motown: The Musical, Sondheim on Sondheim) returns to The Cleveland Orchestra as a featured soloist in Broadway Divas under the direction of Conductor Jack Everly for one night only on August 2, 2015 at 7pm.

BroadwayWorld has just confirmed the final casting for the Hollywood Bowl's upcoming production of Monty Python's Spamalot, the parody of the Arthurian Legend which won the Tony for Best Musical in 2005. Those joining the starry company are Broadway vets Kevin Chamberlin as Sir Bedevere, Tom Deckman as Not Dead Fred, and Rick Holmes as Sir Lancelot.

At Manhattan School of Music's 2015 gala tonight, which honored Bebe Neuwirth and welcomed special guests Angela Lansbury, Barbara Cook, Marlo Thomas, Phil Donahue, and Tommy Tune in the Broadway Melody at the Rainbow Room, MSM President James Gandre announced that, beginning in fall 2016, MSM will become the first-ever independent music conservatory in New York (and only the second in the country) to offer a degree program in musical theater.

A year after they honored cabaret icon Barbara Cook with a musical revue that included John Treacy Egan, Montego Glover, Laura Osnes, Alice Ripley, and Craig Schulman, the Music Conservatory of Westchester is at it again with a rockin' Broadway revue for their 14th Annual Golf & Tennis Classic on June 29 at Whippoorwill Club in Armonk. Tony Award Winner Lena Hall and Tony nominees Constantine Maroulis and Josh Young will perform and Maroulis will emcee the event as well.  The performance will come following a day on the greens and courts at an awards dinner which will honor

Producer Rick Murray announced two additional superstar headliners for the 2015 Broadway Series in Provincetown, MA this summer at The Crown & Anchor's Paramount Theatre and Town Hall Auditorium. Tickets go on sale today for just-added shows by Kathy Griffin August 23 at Town Hall and Charles Busch August 31 and September 1 at the Paramount.

Barbara Cook's Spotlight Series at The Kennedy Center has served as an incredible showcase for some of Broadway's greatest talent to take a smaller stage. The first one I attended was 5 years ago when Laura Benanti took the stage. Since then, dozens of other brilliant performers have taken to the Terrace stage to share a different, more casual side.

Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts ('The Wallis') announces theater icon Barbara Cook for a single performance tonight, March 10, 2015 at 8:00 pm in the Bram Goldsmith Theater. This event completes The Wallis' concert series of Broadway legends, which also features Patti LuPone (two sold-out performances on February 12 and 13) and Betty Buckley (January 24).

Now in its 16th season, Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook continues to expand its scope in celebrating the best in American singing and songwriting, with Barbara Cook closing out the series with upbeat tunes and a swinging band tonight, February 28, 2015 at 8:30 p.m. in The Appel Room at Lincoln Center.

Las Vegas' Smith Center for the Performing Arts is an extraordinary place. It's diverse programs encompass just about all of the performing arts. The building, designed by David M. Schwartz is a Neo Art Deco design and features a 47-bell carillon housed in a 17-story carillon tower. The design, Schwartz said at the opening, was chosen to echo the design elements of Hoover Dam, located 30 miles away. It is the first performing arts center in the United States to be Gold LEED certified. After three years of planning and construction, it opened on March 10, 2012.

Anita Darian, a soprano whose four-octave voice earned her the nickname “The Armenian Yma Sumac” and spawned an eclectic 50-year career that ranged from performances with the New York City Opera, Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic to big-band jazz concerts, co-starring roles with Barbara Cook, and hit pop recordings that included “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” is dead at 87. A longtime resident of East Atlantic Beach, L.I., she died Sunday, Feb. 1 at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside of complications from surgery.
