PLAY THIS MOVIE LOUD! Film Series to Run at Moving Image, 5/4-6/9

Museum of the Moving Image will present an eighteen-film screening series celebrating music movies on the big screen, in conjunction with its current exhibition Spectacle: The Music Video. Taking its title from the title card at the beginning of Martin Scorsese's The Last Waltz-'This film should be played loud!'-the series Play This Movie Loud! opens Saturday, May 4, and continues through June 9, 2013.

Carnegie Hall Receives $10 Million Challenge Grant from Joan and Sanford I. Weill

Carnegie Hall today announced that it has received a $10 million challenge grant from Joan and Sanford I. Weill and The Weill Family Foundation toward its Studio Towers Renovation Project, a comprehensive undertaking that will create new inspirational spaces for music education on the landmark building's existing upper floors while also fully refurbishing the venue's backstage areas.

Broadway Producer Gives $10 Million Gift to Carnegie Hall for Studio Towers Renovation

Carnegie Hall today announced that a $10 million major gift from Judith and Burton Resnick will provide important support toward its Studio Towers Renovation Project, a comprehensive undertaking that will create new inspirational spaces for music education on the building's existing upper floors while also fully refurbishing the venue's backstage areas. The project, scheduled to be completed and opened in 2014, will be transformational for Carnegie Hall, creating new facilities designed to make great music accessible to as many people as possible.

To celebrate the conjunction of its 10th anniversary and the "end" of the Mayan calendar, Immediate Medium is creating an immersive, interdisciplinary group performance called The Future at the End of the World. Working with guest curator Andrew Horwitz, Immediate Medium has selected nine makers of dance, theater, performance, music and media to join them in the largely abandoned offices of the James A. Farley Post Office in Midtown Manhattan.

Fort Worth Opera revealed today the names of the composers whose works have been selected for participation in the first season of the company's exciting, annual new works program, Frontiers, making its debut May 6 - 11, 2013.
