Growing up in Southern California, George Christie was drawn to the rebellious lifestyle of notorious biker clubs at a young age, hanging out with the likes of The Question Marks and Satan Slaves, eventually joining the Los Angeles chapter of the Hells Angels. In 1978, he founded the club's Ventura chapter and quickly rose to fame battling police, prosecutors, rival gangs and members of his own organization for more than three decades.

New Line Theatre, "the bad boy of musical theatre," announces its 28th season of adult, alternative musical theatre, including the world premiere of THE ZOMBIES OF PENZANCE, Gilbert & Sullivan's newly discovered, original 'operatic abomination,' in its first ever production, running Sept. 27-Oct. 20, 2018; followed by the 'family values' classic musical LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, running Feb. 28-March 23, 2019; and to close the season, the St. Louis premiere of the new sci-fi rock musical BE MORE CHILL, based on the bestselling novel, running May 30-June 22, 2019. All New Line's mainstage shows will be in the company's home, the Marcelle Theater, in the Grand Center Arts District.

Working intimately with directors like Yasujiro Ozu, Akira Kurosawa, Kenji Mizoguchi and Kon Ichikawa on some of their most important films, Kazuo Miyagawa (1908-99) pushed Japanese cinema to its highest artistic peaks through his lyrical, innovative, and technically flawless camerawork. Considered the greatest cinematographer of postwar Japanese cinema whose career endured through the 1990s, Miyagawa has influenced generations of leading filmmakers around the world.

Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith and Executive Director Edgar Dobie are pleased to announce that Broadway legend Maurice Hines will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and international touring artist and global humanitarian Mary McBride will headline the 2018 Arena Stage Gala honoring Mayor Muriel Bowser on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Mead Center for American Theater (1101 Sixth St., SW). As previously announced, the Gala features the presentation of the third annual Beth Newburger Schwartz Award to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, and will recognize Jessica Stafford Davis as an Emerging Leader. The Gala is helmed by event chairs and Arena Stage Trustees Lavern Chatman and Maggie FitzPatrick.

Set in the late 1950s, the film stars John Travolta as bad boy Danny and Olivia Newton-John as good girl Sandy. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in your best '50s garb, be it Pink Ladies, T-Birds, or Rydell High Staff! Three world-renowned artists come together to perform Brahms's complete piano trios at Carnegie Hall on Thursday, February 22 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. Pianist Emanuel Ax, violinist Leonidas Kavakos, and cellist Yo-Yo Ma present the three works chronologically, beginning with Piano Trios Nos. 2 and 3, and concluding with No. 1 While this final work was first written in 1854 when the composer was 20 years old, he revisited the score and premiered a new version in 1890. This later version, most commonly performed today, will be presented as the third piece on this program.

The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) opens the doors to its new permanent home in the Miami Design District on December 1, 2017. Marking the first U.S. project designed by Spanish firm Aranguren + Gallegos Arquitectos, the new 37,500-square-foot building launches with a bold inaugural program that reflects the museum's mission of championing new narratives in contemporary art and providing a platform for the exchange of art and ideas.
