San Diego Musical Theater announces SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE as the first show of their second season of musicals. The play will be staged at the Lyceum Theatre in Horton Plaza from Sept. 24 to Oct. 10.

SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE features a collection of pop songs written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, including "Hound Dog," "On Broadway" and "Charlie Brown".

Ron Kellum (who directed SDMT's production of DREAMGIRLS) will be directing and choreographing SDMT's production of SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE, and Don LeMaster will conduct the SDMT orchestra and serve as Musical Director.

The musical stars Lawrence Cummings (PIPIT, CAMELOT), Dominic Rambaran (SHOWBOAT, BIG RIVER), Robert J. Townsend (MAMMA MIA, GREASE) and Laura Dickinson (EVITA, AIDA).
