The San Diego Gay Men's Chorus announced today its selection of Bob Lehman to serve as its new Executive Director. Lehman was previously President of the group's Board of Directors.

Lehman, a baritone singer, has been affiliated with the chorus for 16 years first as a donor, supporter, underwriter and advertiser and later as a singer. He has served as SDGMC's Membership Director and Marketing Director before being elected President in December 2013. Lehman will begin his new role on September 1, 2015.

"I am thrilled to take on this new responsibility as we continue to build our chorus as a musical force for community outreach and social change," said Lehman. "Especially in this, our 30th anniversary year, we are even more committed to changing lives one voice at a time."

Lehman has served on various LGBT boards and organizations with a particular focus on the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and marriage equality issues, most recently being named to the LGBT Veterans Wall of Honor as a combat Marine. He is a resident of the Banker's Hill neighborhood with his husband Tom Felkner. The couple made history in 2008 as the first two men to legally marry in California history.
