Broadway/San Diego ~ A Nederlander Presentation is celebrating its 40th Anniversary with one of their biggest and most chart-topping seasons yet, with shows including CABARET, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, FINDING NEVERLAND, and more. This incredible new season lineup is an ideal blend of Broadway classics and critically acclaimed newcomers straight from New York, and is sponsored by San Diego County Credit Union®.

The 2016-2017 Season first welcomes audiences to the infamous Kit Kat Klub, where the Emcee, Sally Bowles and a raucous ensemble take the stage nightly to tantalize the crowd in CABARET. The beloved story of Maria and the von Trapp family comes to life in the brand new production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, directed by former Old Globe Theatre Artistic Director, Jack O'Brien. Next up is the winner of four 2014 Tony Awards®, and the genre-bending, fourth-wall-smashing musical sensation, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH. Based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl, MATILDA THE MUSICAL tells the story of an extraordinary girl who dares to change her destiny. Don't miss out as the most magical musical on Broadway comes to San Diego in FINDING NEVERLAND. And finally, the season closes out with THE BODYGUARD, starring Deborah Cox, based on the smash-hit film featuring Whitney Houston.

Added season events this year include Disney's THE LION KING, coming back to San Diego for the first time in 7 years; the 20th anniversary of a show that transformed Broadway, RENT; and a San Diego-born and hometown favorite, JERSEY BOYS.

CABARET

August 23-28, 2016

Direct from Broadway, this acclaimed masterpiece comes to San Diego as part of our 40th Anniversary Season.

Welcome to the infamous Kit Kat Klub, where the Emcee, Sally Bowles and a raucous ensemble take the stage nightly to tantalize the crowd -and to leave their troubles outside. But as life in pre-WWII Germany grows more and more uncertain; will the decadent allure of Berlin nightlife be enough to get them through their dangerous times? From SAM MENDES (Skyfall and American Beauty) and ROB MARSHALL'S (Into the Woods and Chicago) this Tony Award®-winning production of CABARET is about following your heart while the world loses it way.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC

November 15-20, 2016

The spirited, romantic and beloved musical story of Maria and the von Trapp Family will once again thrill audiences, with such songs as "My Favorite Things," "Do-Re-Mi," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," "Edelweiss" and the title song. THE SOUND OF MUSIC enjoyed extraordinary success as the first live television production of a musical in over 50 years when "The Sound of Music Live!" aired on NBC in December, 2013 and was seen by over 44 million people. 2015 marked the 50th anniversary of the film version, which continues to be the most successful movie musical in history. The Dallas Morning News describes this production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC as "fresh, deeper and intriguingly complex." And the Los Angeles Daily News says "Go see THE SOUND OF MUSIC as it will be unlike any other you have encountered."

HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH

November 29-December 4, 2016

Brilliantly innovative, heartbreaking, and wickedly funny, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH is the landmark American musical by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask. This "groundbreaking and undoubtedly ahead of its time" production is a genre-bending, fourth-wall-smashing musical sensation, with a pulsing score and electrifying performances, tells the story of one of the most unique characters to ever hit the stage. Directed by Tony Award® winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening) and winner of four 2014 Tony Awards® HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH played to record-breaking sell-out crowds on Broadway and promises to take San Diego by storm with what Time Magazine proclaims is "the most exciting rock score written for the theatre since, oh, ever!"

FINDING NEVERLAND

April 4-9, 2017

According to Time Magazine this breathtaking smash hit "captures the kid-at-heart." Vogue cheers, "it's a must-see you'll remember for years to come!" Directed by visionary Tony winner Diane Paulus, FINDING NEVERLAND tells the incredible story behind one of the world's most beloved characters: Peter Pan. Playwright J.M. Barrie struggles to find inspiration until he meets four young brothers and their beautiful widowed mother. Spellbound by the boys' enchanting make-believe adventures, he sets out to write a play that will astound London theatergoers. With a little bit of pixie dust and a lot of faith, Barrie takes this monumental leap, leaving his old world behind for Neverland where nothing is impossible and the wonder of childhood lasts forever.
