Cygnet Theatre Launches SEATS FOR SOLDIERS in Time for Veterans Day

Thanks to a new program launched by Cygnet Theatre, the holidays will be a bit brighter for area military and their families. SEATS FOR SOLDIERS provides free tickets to the classic holiday musical, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Adapted by Sean Murray with original score by Billy Thompson, this production is a re-imagined take on the original holiday classic featuring lively music, unique puppets and live sound effects.

"With over 100,000 active military and 200,000 veterans living in our area, we wanted to find a way to show appreciation for their service. What better way than inviting them to celebrate the season with us?" said Executive Director Bill Schmidt. "Thanks to the generous support of our Inaugural Corporate Sponsor, Coleman University, we're thrilled to launch this program in time for Veteran's Day." Cygnet is partnering with Operation Homefront, Armed Services YMCA and USO San Diego who will distribute the tickets.

In addition, Cygnet is hosting Military Appreciation Night - Nov 28th @ 7:00PM. A new event this year, Cygnet is thanking our military families with Military Appreciation Night before the evening performance from 7:00-8:00pm. Everyone is welcome to come early and enjoy family-friendly activities and free hot chocolate!

Audiences will be invited to engage in the holiday spirit with pre-show sing-alongs from their seats. Performances are November 27 - December 27 at the Old Town Theatre. Show times are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 3:00pm and 8:00pm, and Sundays at 2:00pm and 7:00pm. Opening Night is Saturday, December 5th, at 8:00pm.
