Coronado Playhouse continues its 71st Season with a concert version of Singin' In The Rain for three performances, April 28-30, 2017. Singin' In The Rain tells the story of the first Hollywood musical, when the silver screen found its voice and left silent movies - and some of its stars - behind. This spectacular show is packed full of the charm, romance, comedy and tinseltown glamour of one the world's best loved movies and features all the songs from the glorious MGM score including Good Morning, Make 'em Laugh, Moses Supposes and the classic Singin' in the Rain. Written by Broadway legends Betty Comden and Adolph Green, with lyrics by Arthur Freed and music by Nacio Herb Brown, Singin' In The Rain was an instant hit when it hit the movie screens in 1952. Directed and choreographed by the incomparable Gene Kelly, the movie won numerous awards including a Golden Globe, a Writers' Guild of America Award and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for Jean Hagen in the role of Lina Lamont.

Rayme Sciaroni returns to Coronado Playhouse to both direct and musical direct Singin' in the Rain after taking the same roles in our 2016 Season's hit show Sugar. Formerly the artistic director at San Diego Junior Theatre, Mr. Sciaroni's work in the local theatrical and cabaret scene is well known and admired. His career as a cabaret artist and composer has found him fame across the entire country and he boasts original songs in the 2nd longest running Off-Broadway show, Naked Boys Singing! Combining his skills as a cabaret artist and composer, and always striving for originality and new ways to present theatre, Mr. Sciaroni's concert version of Singin' in the Rain aims to showcase the musicals' songs with all cast members performing solos and interchanging the various roles., all supported by a live on-stage band.

In true Sciaroni style, this performance will end with a Singin' in the Rain Mashup!

Tickets are $20 (general admission) and are available through Coronado Playhouse's Box Office at (619) 435-4856 or online at www.CoronadoPlayhouse.com.
