Actors Alliance of San Diego is proud to announce A Professional Scene Study with Esteban Andres Cruz: The plays of Stephen Adly Guirgis at the Academy of Performing Arts: 5120-C Baltimore Dr, La Mesa, CA 91942. The workshop will take place on Tuesdays, May 27-June 24 from 7:00pm-10:00pm. There will be no class on Tuesday, June 3rd. The final class on June 24 will be from 8-10pm and will consist of a public presentation of the scenes. There are only 12 spots available.

Scenes will be taken from the following plays: Our Lady of 121st St, In Arabia We'd All Be Kings, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, and Jesus Hopped the A Train.

Esteban Andres Cruz is a Chicago actor, living in LA and recipient of the prestigious Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Actor (2009) for his portrayal of Angel Cruz in Guirgis's Jesus Hopped the A Train. He is currently starring in Cygnet Theatre's production of another Guirgis play: The Motherfucker with the Hat (running through June 22nd at Cygnet Theatre Company at Old Town Theater). A graduate of both the School at Steppenwolf and iO Chicago, Mr. Cruz uses Viewpoints, Meisner and Improv to bring actors to a more physically engaged, visceral and honest approach to their work. Esteban has taught on Faculty at Act One Studios and as a guest artist at Columbia College Theater Department, the Theater School at DePaul and has been guest lecturer at Northwestern University. He has also served on the panel for emerging theater artist in the World Theater conference in Chicago in 2010. Mr. Cruz has worked under the direction of Neil Armfield (of Company B, Australia) and MacArthur genius grant recipient & Broadway director; David Cromer (as Angel in Rent and Streetcar Named Desire) and with Writers' Theater, Steppenwolf Theater, Victory Gardens, Piven Theater, The Hypocrites, Strawdog, Raven, The Factory, Theater at The Center and was a former ballet and modern dancer. Currently, Esteban can be seen on television's Awkward (MTV) and The Bridge (FX) and he played Danny Trejo's nephew in A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas and his latest film, The Thin Line comes out this fall.
