The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre (The Gamm) closes Season 31 with The Winter's Tale, William Shakespeare's bittersweet story about jealousy, revenge and loss...and the redeeming power of love. One of the bard's final and seldom-staged plays, The Winter's Talefeatures prophecies, romance, drama, comedy, theatrical magic and one of the most astonishing endings in English literature. Fred Sullivan, Jr. (Macbeth,Hamlet) will play the wily con man Autolycus and direct Gamm Artistic Director Tony Estrella as the powerful King Leontes who falls into a jealous fit and loses everything that is important to him including his wife, Hermione (Karen Carpenter), and his best friend, King Polixenes (Jesse Hinson).

"Almost 22 years ago, I embarked on my professional career playing Prince Florizel in Trinity Rep's 1994 production of The Winter's Tale. Coincidentally, that show also marked my first of many, many collaborations with Fred, who played Clown. That was also the last time The Winter's Tale was staged professionally in Rhode Island," said Gamm Artistic Director Tony Estrella. "To revisit the play as Leontes a generation later with Fred at the helm, and join this amazing cast in one of Shakespeare's most moving and powerful plays, is an incredible privilege. I can't wait to celebrate four centuries of the greatest writer in our language with one of his most magical and moving of tales."

The Winter's Tale runs from April 21 through May 29 at The Gamm Theatre, 172 Exchange St., Pawtucket, RI. Tickets are $41 and $49; preview performances (April 21-24) just $30. Call 401-723-4266 or order online atgammtheatre.org.
