Durham's DPAC Announces 2016-17 Season, Including THE KING AND I, SOMETHING ROTTEN!, HEDWIG, FUN HOME & More

DPAC has just announced its "DREAM BIG" Season as seven of eight shows are currently or have recently played on Broadway while the eighth is a hit straight from London's West End. From the winners of Tony® Award Best Musical, Best Play and Best Revivals to other award-winning fan favorites, DPAC has the best of the best hitting its stage in the upcoming season.

?FUN HOME, 2015 winner of five Tony® Awards including Best Musical and will open the ninth season of SunTrust Broadway at DPAC October 25-30, 2016. Next in the season comes AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, January 3-8, 2017. Called "a masterpiece" by The Wall Street Journal, it was the most award-winning musical of the season. Next is a Tony® Award winning best revival, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, January 31-February 5, which was called "thrilling... like a celebration" by The Wall Street Journal.

February 21-26 brings 2015 Winner of five Tony® Awards including best play: THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME will be one of the first straight plays to hit the DPAC stage and was also called "the most inventive new show on Broadway" by the New York Post. Direct from London's West End and starring Grammy® nominee Deborah Cox comes "the runaway gold-plated musical hit" (Daily Mail):

THE BODYGUARD is London's award-winning musical based on the smash hit film and will take the DPAC stage March 14-19. April 4-9 brings the hilarious and irresistible new hit musical SOMETHING ROTTEN that Time Out New York calls "the funniest musical in at least 400 years!" A fan favorite comes FINDING NEVERLAND, May 23-28 and is "magnificent! Far and away, the best musical of the season" (NPR). Closing out the season June 6-11 is 2015 winner of four Tony® Awards including Best Musical Revival: Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE KING AND I, New York Magazine says is "too beautiful to miss! An astonishing achievement."

Tickets for the "DREAM BIG" Season shows are currently available as part of the SunTrust Broadway, 2016 / 2017 Season package. Prices for the season will vary depending on titles and seats selected, and whether choosing the full eight-show or flexible seven-show package.

Current SunTrust Broadway at DPAC Season Seat Members will receive renewal packages in the mail over the next week and will have until May 1, 2016 to renew.
