The inaugural performance of Roots Performing Arts; this collection of pieces focuses on the universal theme of courage. The characters presented in these scenes face moments in their lives to stand up for what they feel is right and what they believe in; however, sometimes they find this is not so easy. Roots showcases moments in human life that can be awkward, sad, happy, even terrifying, but the characters’ ability to show courage (or the lack thereof), even when it’s hard, speaks to the audience that we all have it in our hearts to be courageous for what we feel is right and true. Featuring scenes from DOUBT by John Patrick Shanley, GOD OF CARNAGE by Yasmina Reza, RABBIT HOLE by David Lindsay-Abaire, THE SHAPE OF THINGS by Neil LaBute, TRUE WEST by Sam Shepard, PRISONER ON 2nd AVENUE by Neil Simon, ALMOST, MAINE by John Cariani, THE GLASS MENAGERIE by Tennessee Williams, ‘NIGHT MOTHER by Marsha Norman, and OTHELLO and LOVE’S LABOURS LOST by William Shakespeare. Come see Roots “Step Forward” for the very first time on August 13.
