Filipino literature comes to life in this twin bill of Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. “Cristostomo Ibarra” premiered in 2010, while “Simoun” will premiere this October. Both shows feature an original libretto and choreography by Paul Alexander Morales and original music by Jed Balsamo.

“Simoun” follows the transformation and succeeding actions of El Filibusterismo’s protagonist, the formerly optimistic Crisostomo Ibarra into Simoun, the cynical revolutionary out to spark a change in the society. This year marks the 120th death anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal. This production is supported by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
