'SALESMAN,' 'INISHMAAN' & More Set for Curio Theatre Company's 2015-16 Season

Curio Theatre Company has announced its 2015-2016 Season. The company's 11th Season includes new looks at modern classic works of theatre. The season will open with the Philadelphia Premiere of a one-woman staging of The Handmaid's Tale (October 15-November 14). It continues with The Bald Soprano (December 2-December 19). 2016 kicks off with the production of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman (February 4-March 5). The season concludes with Martin McDonagh's The Cripple of Inishmaan (April 21-May 21).

All Curio shows run Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $15 to $25 per person. Subscription package also available, $60-$80 per person. Tickets and more information are available online at www.curiotheartre.org.

The Handmaid's Tale

Opening Night Friday, October 23 at 8 p.m.

After a staged terrorist attack, a Christian Theocracy overthrows the United States. Suddenly, Offred's life is thrown into subjugation, she must become a Handmaid to increase population growth. A cautionary tale that predicts our worst fears of fundamentalism, Margaret Atwood's 1985 novel comes to life in the Philadelphia Premiere of this daring one-woman adaptation.

The Bald Soprano

Opening Night Friday, December 4 at 8 p.m.

Ionesco wrote that he didn't intend to parody anything, but if he did, he would parody everything. Join us for an evening with the Smith's and the Martin's as conversations go from normal to nonsense in his classic hilarious play about the absurdity of manners and small talk.

February 4-March 5, 2016
Death of a Salesman

Opening Night Friday, February 12 at 8 p.m.

Arthur Miller's exploration of the American Dream. Willy Loman is a salesman who dreams of making it as big as his brother, of providing for his family and of having his sons make a better life. But not everything turns out as we hope. Death of a Salesman explores who we want to be, what we want for those around us and how we hope to get there. This production will feature Curio Theatre Company's husband and wife Artistic Director Paul Kuhn and Managing Director Gay Carducci.

The Cripple of Inishmaan

Opening Night, Friday April 28 at 8 p.m.

Hollywood comes to the remote Irish island town of Inishmaan to make a documentary of country life. "Cripple" Billy Claven wants to leave his life of poverty and boredom for the part he was born to play. Will he surprise the town with his talent and success?
