Music Theater Works Presents 'THE RYAN SCOTT OLIVER PROJECT'
Philadelphia Music Theater Works welcomes 2008 Richard Rodgers Award winning composer and lyricist Ryan Scott Oliver in an original evening of songs from one of America's most promising new voices in the musical theater. A stellar and acclaimed ensemble of Philadelphia actors including Barrymore Award winner Michael O'Brien, Mat Burrow, Jeremiah Downes, Sarah Gliko, Colleen Hazlett-O'Brien and Alex Keiper unravel the complicated world of contemporary urban life in your 20's with all of the obsessions, compulsions, rejection, revelations and tantric sex in The Ryan Scott Oliver Project.
Such an original and ground breaking evening of musical theater is unmatched this season in Philadelphia. The Ryan Scott Oliver Project, under the direction and development of Billy Bustamante and with musical direction by Resident Music Director, Christopher Ertelt will continue in our standard of fostering the future of the American musical in Philadelphia. The Ryan Scott Oliver Project will be presented one night only, this January 8th, 2009 at 8PM at the Ethical Society Building on Rittenhouse Square.
Billy Bustamante, Director of The Ryan Scott Oliver Project, describes Ryan and his work with this new production, "Ryan Scott Oliver is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting and gifted new composers I have encountered in my career. He possesses a unique ability to create songs that explore the joys, pains and triumphs of our changing society while at the same time, un-earthing new glimpses and perspectives on the timeless human condition... I am very excited to be exploring his work with The Ryan Scott Oliver Project."
