Whether your musical palette drives you toward graceful vocals, engaging theatricality or captivating melodies, there's a strong and powerful fusion of all three in AN ENCHANTED EVENING: A NIGHT WITH Oscar Hammerstein II - a limited engagement, one night only, elegant benefit concert featuring award-winning vocalist Doreen Taylor & highlighting Oscar's life and journey to become one of the most important lyricists of all time.

Returning to the area where she has planted roots in a benefit for the Oscar Hammerstein II Museum & Theatre Education Center, the Philadelphia/South Jersey based songstress raises the bar by presenting "An Enchanted Evening: A Night with Oscar Hammerstein II", Thursday August 24, 2017 at Bristol Riverside Theatre, 120 Radcliffe Street Bristol, PA. Showtime 7:30pm. Tickets are on sale now at brtstage.org or (215) 785-0100. Proceeds will be donated to help save Highland Farm in Doylestown, PA.

"An Enchanted Evening: A Night with Oscar Hammerstein II" showcases Doreen's talents as a highly skilled, classically trained vocalist, backed by some of the area's finest musicians in an elegant and sophisticated concert. Possessing a rare opportunity to work closely with William Hammerstein (Oscar Hammerstein's grandson) to obtain private, personal stories, rarely seen images and an in-depth glimpse into the life of Oscar Hammerstein, "An Enchanted Evening" is a one-of-a kind, intimate show highlighting Oscar's life and music.

Dubbed by the Huffington Post as "an excellent performing artist to keep your eyes on," being able to return to her musical theatre roots and to the Philadelphia area with this highly acclaimed show supporting a cause that helps save a historic Broadway landmark, makes this evening an extra special honor for Doreen.

"I grew up performing in the many great shows that Oscar Hammerstein II helped create and to think that the very place these shows were created is now being threatened is a travesty. Being able to lend my talents to help save this legendary landmark is a great honor for me and I am so excited to be able to return to my musical theatre and classical roots to help a cause that is so near and dear to my heart."

Oscar Hammerstein II moved to Highland Farm in Doylestown, PA in 1940 and over the next 19 years, the farm became the birthplace for timeless Rodgers and Hammerstein classics, including: Oklahoma!, South Pacific, Carousel, King and I, and Sound of Music. He also mentored a young Stephen Sondheim there, who famously said, "In one afternoon at Highland Farm, I learned more about songwriting and musical theatre, than most people learn in a lifetime." The Hammerstein's sold the farm in 1961 and it is now being threatened by a 4-lot subdivision. The Oscar Hammerstein II Museum & Theatre Education Center will not only help save the farm and what most consider "the birthplace of American modern musical theater", but also restore the house for tours, a museum and to build a new theatre, where the Hammerstein legacy of great musical theatre, social engagement and mentorship can be honored. The Oscar Hammerstein Museum and Theatre Education Center, is a recognized nonprofit 501(c)3 charitable organization, dedicated to the preservation of Highland Farm, as THE place to celebrate Oscar Hammerstein's legacy of great musical theatre, social engagement and mentorship. Highland Farm is where the Rodgers and Hammerstein partnership was formed, where Hammerstein wrote classics like Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I and The Sound of Music, where he mentored a young Stephen Sondheim, and where he devoted one hour of every working day advocating for the pressing social issues of his time.

To honor this singular legacy, we aim to restore the house at Highland Farm and give house tours, where we will tell inspiring stories of the man and the history that happened there. We will also restore the barn and turn it into a browsing museum, telling the story of Oscar Hammerstein's life, beginning with his grandfather, Oscar I, father of Times Square and ending with Stephen Sondheim, who honors Oscar's legacy on Broadway to the present day. Once these goals are accomplished, we intend to build a new theater in Doylestown, to present Hammerstein musicals, foster socially relevant discussions and other engaging programming. Highland Farm is located at 70 East Road, Doylestown, PA 18901, just an 80-mile drive south of Times Square.
