Tickets are now on sale for Temple Theaters 2016-2017 season of performances at Temple University - dramas by acclaimed American Playwrights, two Broadway hit musicals and a new play by Pulitzer Prize nominee Kristoffer Diaz and more.

The season includes seven mainstage productions: Lynne Nottage's memory play Crumbs from the Table of Joy; Tony Award winning musical Hairspray; the twentieth century masterpiece Marat/Sade by Peter Weiss; world premiere of Reggie Hoops a commissioned drama by Kristoffer Diaz; the American classic Our Town by Thornton Wilder; a concert presentation of charming musical comedy She Loves Me; and Love and Information by renowned British playwright Caryl Churchill.

The first production of the season, Crumbs from the Table of Joy by Lynne Nottage runs September 21 - October 2 in Randall Theater. Directed by Lee Kenneth Richardson, this memory play is a thought-provoking coming-of-age story. Author of the 2009 Pulitzer Prize winning play Ruined, Lynn Nottage is one strongest female voices in contemporary American theater.

Temple Theaters' fall musical is the upbeat Hairspray, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Under the direction of Peter Reynolds, director of last season's show-stopper Anything Goes, the story of spunky Tracy Turnblad's big dreams and bigger hair in segregated 1960s Baltimore is sure to delight. With choreography byMaggie Anderson and musical direction by Gina Giachero, the musical comedy runs October 12 - 23 in the Tomlinson Theater.

Temple Theaters is excited to present the world premiere of Reggie Hoops, a play commissioned by the Department of Theater, by Kristoffer Diaz and directed by Professor Ed Sobel, former Director of New Play Development at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, running January 31 - February 12, 2017 in Randall Theater New York-based playwright and educator Diaz is best known for his play The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama.
