Dick Van Dyke delighted theatergoers when he made a surprise cameo in the LA engagement of the MARY POPPINS NORTH AMERICAN TOUR on January 22. Van Dyke, 84, reprised his smaller film role, that of the crotchety bank president Mr. Dawes, in front of an ecstatic, sold out house at the Ahmanson Theater as part of a charity fundraiser.

The stars of Broadway's ROCK OF AGES have banded together to raise funds for World Vision, a humanitarian fund that has been in Haiti for 30 years in an effort to contribute to the country's relief. Stars Kerry Butler, Lauren Molina and James Carpinello introduce the fundraiser in the video below. The production will be auctioning off items, the first of which is a backstage tour with Butler. Today, a preview clip from the upcoming season of Theater Talk has been released in which panelists Michael Riedel, Susan Haskins, Jesse Green, Michael Musto and Patrick Pacheco discuss the viability of the upcoming Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, now expected to open on Broadway in the fall of 2010 after financial troubles delayed a winter opening. Theater Talk, a weekly expose of world theater that airs on PBS Friday nights (PBS/Thirteen) and 5 times weekly on CUNY TV. Theater Talk makes its 2010 premiere tomorrow at 1 AM on Thirteen.

The 67th Golden Globe Awards were broadcast live on NBC last night from the Beverly Hilton. The awards ceremony was seen in more than 160 countries worldwide and is one of the few awards ceremonies that span both television and motion picture achievements. Winners of this year's awards include GLEE for Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical, Meryl Streep for 'Julie & Julia', Michael C. Hall for 'Dexter', Alec Baldwin for '30 Rock', John Lithgow for his role on 'Dexter', Christoph Waltz for 'Inglourious Basterds', and HBO's 'Grey Gardens'.

The starry cast of THE MIRACLE WORKER have recently got to work on the production, which begins performances on Friday, February 12 at the Circle in the Square Theatre on Broadway. The show, starring Abigail Breslin, Allison Pill, Matthew Modine, Jennifer Morrison and Elizabeth Franz officially opens on March 3, 2010.

Newly emerging country singer and Legally Blonde alum, Laura Bell Bundy, today released her first full length music video for her first single, 'Giddy On Up,' off of her upcoming album Achin' and Shakin' (Mercury Records, a division of Universal). Following the closing announcement of Broadway's RAGTIME for January 3, the production was met with public dismay and a swell of strong ticket sales for the closing week. As previously reported, the producer's have responded to public sentiment by extending the show by a week. The critically acclaimed new production of Terrence McNally, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's Tony Award® winning musical RAGTIME will now play its final performance on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. following 28 preview and 65 regular performances.

Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria Parker and her husband, San Antonia Spurs guard, Tony Parker have launched a new GREASE contest for fans, the pair announced today. Fans are challenged to spoof famous scenes from the 1978 movie musical and submit their renditions online via Tony's official website. The winners, selected by Longoria Parker and Parker, will be flown out to meet the pair and watch one of Tony's games before the 2010 playoffs.
