The cast of Goodspped's Fiddler on the Roof, which ran from June 27th through September 12th, found time in their busy petrformance schedule to have some fun backstage. Check out their hilarious Fiddler-style spoof of Magic!'s 'Rude.'

STAGE TUBE: On This Day 8/8- SHENANDOAH

Today in 1989, the first Broadway revival of Shenandoah opened at the Virginia Theatre (now the August Wilson Theatre), where it ran for 32 performances. Shenandoah is a musical that was written in 1975 with music by Gary Geld, lyrics by Peter Udell, and a book by Udell, Philip Rose and James Lee Barrett, based on Barrett's original screenplay for the 1965 film Shenandoah. The musical first opened at the Goodspeed Opera House in 1974 and then transferred to Broadway, opening on January 7, 1975. It ran on Broadway for a total of 1,050 performances, closing August 7, 1977. The production was nominated for six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and won two, one for Best Actor in a Musical (John Cullum) and the other for Best Book of a Musical.

The drama surrounding Trumbull High School's impending production of Rent continues, as administators recetly committed to moving the show forward on its home turf. Now the question is whether the students will perform the show at their school (on a delayed schedule), or on their previously announced run dates at Goodspeed Opera House. If the production were to go on at the high school, participating students would be unable to attend their previously planned choir trip to England.

Big Thunder Productions will present Mercury Rising, a Benefit Concert by MSS Alums in the Big Apple, a cabaret event to be performed on Sunday, September 15th at 4pm at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. The event will feature songs from new, bound-for-Broadway musicals written by up-and-coming composers and lyricists from all over the globe, including Mercury Summer Stock's own Dan Marshall, Carla Rose Fisher, and Aliyana Stewart. This benefit concert will feature Broadway's Corey Mach and Drew Aber, and over a dozen of Mercury's NYC-based professional alumni, along with special guest Marissa Rosen. Dolly looks swell as ever as Goodspeed Musicals brings everyone's favorite meddlesome matchmaker to its main stage. Hello, Dolly! will run from June 28 - September 8 at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Conn. Official Press Opening will be July 17, 2013.Leading the cast in the role of Dolly Levi will be cabaret diva Klea Blackhurst. Ms. Blackhurst is best known for her award-winning tribute to Ethel Merman, Everything the Traffic Will Allow, which she has performed in venues across the U.S. and in London. She was most recently seen in Happy Huntingat The York Theatre. She also created the role of Miss Lemon in the new musical The Nutty Professor, which premiered this past summer in Nashville.
