Tony Award-winning composer of the Broadway musical In the Heights Lin-Manuel Miranda has tackled a new beast with his latest project, Bring It On: The Musical. The show is now playing on Broadway at the St. James Theatre after a nationwide tour. Last night, September 28, Green Day frontman and the musical's composer/ co-author Billie Joe Armstrong made his Broadway debut as 'St. Jimmy' at the St. James Theatre in AMERICAN IDIOT. Armstrong will perform through Sunday, October 3, 2010. Immediately following this engagement, Mr. Armstrong will join Green Day in Caracas, Venezuela on October 8, 2010 to kick off their South American Tour. During last night's GRAMMY Awards, the Broadway cast of AMERICAN IDIOT performed with Green Day on the band's two-time GRAMMY nominated song '21 Guns' on Music's Biggest Night. During the telecast, those in the New York area were also treated to a TV spot commercial promoting the upcoming Broadway production of AMERICAN IDIOT. Watch the commercial below!

The Broadway cast of AMERICAN IDIOT performed with Green Day on the band's two-time GRAMMY nominated song '21 Guns' on Music's Biggest Night. The 52ND Annual Grammy Awards took place live on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and were broadcast on the CBS Television Network from 8-11:30pm (ET/PT).

Following the record-breaking and critically acclaimed engagement of 'American Idiot' at the Berkeley Rep, the production is now Broadway-bound. 'American Idiot' will begin previews in March 2010 and open on Broadway in April at the St. James Theatre. The Broadway cast will be announced shortly.

One day before the first performance of Green Day's American Idiot, Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced that it will extend the show due to record-breaking sales and unprecedented demand for seats. Originally scheduled to close on October 11, this hotly anticipated world premiere has been extended three weeks and will now play through Sunday, November 1.
