Yesterday, September 6, as part of this year's Fashion's Night Out, Cyndi Lauper introduced a special performance of "Sex is in the Heel" by the cast of Kinky Boots at the Manolo Blahnik boutique (31 W 54th Street). Today in 2009, 9 to 5 closed at the Marquis Theatre, where it ran for 148 performances. 9 to 5 is a stage musical with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and a book by Patricia Resnick, based on the 1980 movie Nine to Five. Resnick had co-written the screenplay with Colin Higgins, the director of the film, in which Parton had her first screen role. The musical premiered at Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles in September 2008 and opened on Broadway on April 30, 2009. It was nominated for 15 Drama Desk Awards, the most received by a production in a single year. It was also nominated for four Tony Awards.

Elephant Room at the Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre brings pure, unadulterated fun and transforms the space into a mystical place of wonder and amusement, running now through September 16, 2012. On Saturday, August 4, 2012, Civic Center Members in Des Moines were treated to an exclusive visit from 'Joey,' the star of WAR HORSE. More than 125 were in line at 6 a.m. to take advantage of early purchasing and watched 'Joey' make several appearances to cheering crowds. Watch the videos below!

Broadway leads Nicolas Dromard (Mary Poppins), Carrie Manolakos (Mamma Mia) and Leah Horowitz (Follies) have joined 15 other Broadway and Hollywood performers in helping to kick off the inaugural season of the Transcendence Theatre Company's Broadway Under The Stars in Jack London State Park concert series this summer in Sonoma, California. The West Coast premiere of The National Theatre production of War Horse opened on June 29 at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre. "War Horse," like any fine stallion, has a award winning pedigree, and has won the trifecta in terms of the mediums in which it's tale has been told. It began as a novel 28 years ago, was staged as a play at the National Theatre in London 5 years ago, and last year received a motion picture adaptation courtesy of Steven Spielberg. On Friday, it finally made its Los Angeles theatre debut, with the premiere of the National Tour at LA's Center Theatre Group's Ahmanson Theatre.
