LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST Begins 6/17 at Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's Outdoor Stage

Enjoy Shakespeare under the stars at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's Outdoor Stage production of Love's Labour's Lost. The enormously popular summer venue, located on the campus of the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morris Township, will host the show beginning on June 17th and continuing through July 26th.

THE CALICO BUFFALO Set for NYMF, 7/8-16

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) in association with Bosc Publishing Company, Inc. presents The Calico Buffalo a new musical fable with book, music and lyrics by EJ Stapleton, and music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winning composer Peter Stopschinski. Craig J. George directs a cast of ten, including Jennifer Apple, Rachel Coloff*, Rhys Gilyeat*, Zachary Infante*, Stephen Mark, Anthea Neri*, Rachel Rhodes-Devey*, Brooke Shapiro*, Kevin Sims*, and Max Wilcox*. The Calico Buffalo is being staged at PTC Performance Space, 555 West 42nd Street (bet. 10th & 11th Avenues) in NYC for five performances from Wednesday, July 8 through Thursday, July 16, 2015. *Appearing courtesy of Actors' Equity Association.

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Andrew Levine, Executive Director), and producers Amy Engelhardt and Heather Shields, will present the June installment of the game show for musical theatre lovers called Tune in Time, hosted by Emily McNamara, with Musical Director Nate Buccieri and annoyingly insistent timekeeper Sheila Head on Monday, June 8, 2015 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peters (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

York Theatre Company to Stage Four New Works as Part Development Readings Series This Month

 The York Theatre Company and its acclaimed Developmental Reading Series will present four new works during the month of June:  Orville and Wilbur Did It! a play byDavid Zellnik with songs by Mr. Zellnik and Eric Svejcar; Juliet and Juliet, based on a concept by Natalie Tenenbaum and Sean Patterson, with book and lyrics by Mr. Patterson, and music by Ms. Tenenbaum;  Elsie Janis and the Boys with book & lyrics by Carol Crittenden and music by John T. Prestianni; and Grounded for Life with book by Pat Hazell and Bill Habeeb, lyrics by Lawrence Goldberg and Mr. Hazell, and music by Mr. Goldberg at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (619 Lexington Avenue, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).  The readings are open to the public with a suggested donation of $5.00.

THEATER TALK to Host 8-Hour Tony Awards Marathon Next Sunday

On TONY Awards Sunday (June 7), CUNY TV will present 8 hours of interviews related to this year's nominated musicals, plays, and individuals - from 12 noon right up till Tony time (8 p.m. on CBS). Written and co-directed by Broadway veteran Daniel J. Watts and Frack Theatre, 140 Characters is a new documentary play exploring one of the defining moments in this nation's recent history. The death of unarmed African American teen Michael Brown galvanized the public conversation around police violence towards black men, and to a greater extent, the oppression still encountered by people of color on a daily basis. The shooting and ensuing public outcry captured the attention of America and the world through social media. Using tweets from real life characters, 140 Characters moves this hashtag war out from behind the screen and brings it to life on stage.
