BWW Review: Iconic Cabaret Singer Baby Jane Dexter Keeps Raising The Bar With Her Compelling New Show IT'S PERSONAL at the Metropolitan Room
by John Hoglund
- Nov 19, 2015
In her current show at the Metropolitan Room, It's Personal, Baby Jane Dexter once again reaches beyond the footlights and embraces her idolaters as only she can. In doing so, she makes them cry, laugh out loud, and view life with a different slant. After all these years, she's still packing them in and raising the bar. Her gravitas and strong self-belief make for an exciting and unique hour of cabaret. Dexter's joy at giving is evident throughout this new show. Serious minded but never preachy, this is an artist enjoying herself as much as her audience is.

Though Colin Hay made an indelible mark on pop music back in the '80s, he's been far from idle in the years since his unmistakable tenor and witty, ska-inflected songs sent Australian band Men at Work to the top of the charts. His second-chapter career includes 12 solo albums (his latest, Next Year People, was released in February on Compass Records) and a variety of acting gigs; multiple appearances in the TV show Scrubs alone endeared him to a new generation of fans.

BWW Review: AMRAM & CO. Authenticates at Cornelia Street Café
by Matt Hanson
- Oct 14, 2015
In terms of the origins of contemporary American culture as Americans know, breathe and live it today, authentic is a word rarely seen with such exacting definition than in the presence of David Amram. If America had a monarch, he would not only be Sir David Amram, he would be the palace seer, a magician of sound and word who transcends prophecy to the realm of absolutely artful wisdom.
