Bay City Players will hold auditions for its upcoming production, LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR, by Neil Simon, on Sunday and Monday, August 8 & 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Auditions will be held at Bay City Players, 1214 Columbus Avenue, in Bay City. The production, co-directed by Tina Sills and Michael Dunckel, will be performed September 24-26 and September 30-October 3, 2010.

Multi award winning playwright/lyricist Steven Sater has chosen LA's Rogue Machine to present the World premiere of his play New York Animals.

Helen Hunt will depart David Cromer's acclaimed production of Thornton Wilder's Our Town Sunday, August 1st, at the Barrow Street Theatre. Ms. Hunt was the sixth actor to assume the iconic role in this record-breaking production.

Tickets for the upcoming Broadway production of George Bernard Shaw's play Mrs. Warren's Profession go on sale to the general public on July 30. The production, to be produced by the Roundabout Theatre Company, will star Tony® Award winner Cherry Jones as Kitty Warren and Golden Globe winner Sally Hawkins making her Broadway debut as Vivie Warren and will be directed by Tony® Award winner Doug Hughes at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd St). The cast will also feature Adam Driver as Frank Gardner, Mark Harelik as Sir George Crofts, Edward Hibbert as Mr. Praed and Michael Siberry as Reverend Samuel Gardner.

The Toronto International Film Festival has announced fifteen galas and thirty-five special presentations (twenty-five of them world premieres) for this year's festival. Ravinia celebrates opera with Mozart's Così fan tutte and The Marriage of Figaro featuring the Chicago Symphony Orchestra led by James Conlon and joined by all-star casts as well as members of the Chicago Symphony Chorus. Both operas will be presented in the Martin Theatre and will receive two performances, Così on Aug. 5 and 7 and Figaro on Aug. 6 and 8. Cosi fan tutte features 'one of America's finest artists and singers' (New York Times), mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade, portraying Despina; Grammy Award winning soprano Ana Maria Martinez, who last appeared at Ravinia with Plácido Domingo at the festival's 2007 Gala, as Fiordiligi; Romanian mezzo-soprano Ruxandra Donose, who recently appeared as Veronica Quaife in The Fly at L.A. Opera, making her Ravinia debut as Dorabella; Russian baritone Rodion Pogosov, who made his Metropolitan Opera debut playing Papageno in the 2004 production of Die Zauberflöte, portraying Guglielmo in his festival debut; and Albanian tenor Saimir Pirgu, who made his US debut singing Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi at LA Opera, conducted by Conlon and directed by Woody Allen, appearing as Ferrando in his festival debut.

On Tuesday night I had the privilege of conducting an InDepth InterView with legendary composer, conductor and musical director Marvin Hamlisch. The three-time Oscar-winner has also won a Pulitzer Prize, a Tony, Emmys and Golden Globes making him the only individual besides Richard Rodgers to accomplish as much in his forty-year-plus career. His scores for A CHORUS LINE, THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG and SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS, along with his work on classic films like THE WAY WE WERE and THE STING surely cement his place in the pantheon of great American artists, a legend in his own time. On Monday night he also participated - accompanying Idina Menzel on a song from A CHORUS LINE - in the White House celebration of Broadway also starring Nathan Lane, Idina Menzel, Audra McDonald and the First Family themselves which will be airing on PBS in October. He also hosts the 70s music special THE WAY WE WERE, MUSIC OF THE SEVENTIES airing in August on PBS, as well.
