What did our critic think of 24-HOUR PLAY FESTIVAL at Contemporary Theater? It's been 18 years that Contemporary Theater Company has been putting on this 24-hour play festival, an amazing concoction of stories and actors and action that just can't be compared to anything else because, frankly, there is nothing else like it.

All the hilarious mayhem you expect in a fast-paced farce, but it's all made up on the spot! The Contemporary Theater Company is bringing back their popular show Slamming Doors: An Improvised Farce for a second year.

The Contemporary Theater Company has announced that its popular show, Slamming Doors, has extended its run with additional performances on September 8 and 9. Scroll down for a look at the cast in action!

The Contemporary Theater Company can be counted on for innovative shows, and this summer will not disappoint with their first full-length improvised farce, Slamming Doors, running August 19 through September 3!

Tartuffe or The Imposter, by Moliere was first performed in 1664, which may make potential theatregoers feel like they are doing something smart and sophisticated on a Friday or Saturday night by attending this production re-dubbed THE BOYS OF ST. MATTHEWS PRESENT TARTUFFE. It's a smart move, to be sure, but perhaps not quite in the way one would imagine. Kevin Broccoli's Epic Theatre Company has taken this French classic and added the frame of it being a forbidden production in an all boys school, to turn it into a raunchy, homoerotic and hilarious romp that had the tiny audience roaring with laughter.

The 24-Hour Play Festival is an annual tradition at South Kingstown's Contemporary Theatre Company, where for 9 years, 6 plays are written, cast, staged, teched, and put in front of a live audience in a 24 hour span. I tagged along with one of the productions during this year's festival on January 11th, 2014, to see how it's done.
