Primary Stages just held their annual Gala last night, November 3, 2014 at 583 Park Avenue. The event celebrated the company's 30th anniversary and honor Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Donald Margulies and award-winning producer, Julian Schlossberg. The Honorary Gala Co-Chairs are Brian d'Arcy James, Laura Linney, Elaine May, and Susan Stroman. The evening featured performances and tributes by Tony nominee Nick Cordero(performing from Bullets over Broadway), Charles Busch, Judy Gold, David Ives, the creators of In Transit, Tony winner Frank Langella, Elaine May, Tony winner Billy Porter, Marlo Thomas, Rachel York, and surprise guests. The Board of Directors of City Theatre is pleased to announce the appointment of James McNeel as the organization's next managing director starting January 5, succeeding Mark R. Power who has served in the role for the past four years with the South Side-based non-profit theatre company, the largest theatrical producer located beyond Downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District and the region's home for the development and production of new plays.

Playing on Air, a public radio show featuring recordings of select contemporary short American plays, returns to BRIC House for a new season of performances. Nine short plays by notable American playwrights (three per evening) will be recorded live at BRIC House, 647 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn on October 20, 27 and December 1 at 7:30pm.

America-in-Play presents the premiere of A Time-Traveler's Trip to Niagra, Following the Bold Adventures and Strange Detours of an Unlikely Group of Travelers Across Time and America. Running through May 18 at the Hudson Guild Theatre (441 West 26th Street), this unique comedy interweaves two journeys up the Hudson River: one by bus in 2014 and one by steamboat in 1828. From upper class Brits taking a tour of the Early Republic to a modern brother and sister taking a bus ride upstate to trace their roots, the two trips converge at the iconic and spectacular Niagara Falls and aim to investigate the relationship between the American landscape and identity while exploring ties between past and future. A unique 'Dime Museum' exploring Americana and the play will be open 30 minutes before each performance. Check out a first look below!

City Theatre announces the first three titles of its 40th anniversary season-all compelling new works by returning playwrights: Holliday with Mulligan, a music-filled portrait of actress Judy Holliday by Willy Holtzman, Midsummer, an adventure-filled romp by David Greig and Gordon McIntyre, and Mr. Joy, a poignant exploration of a Harlem community by Daniel Beaty.

PlayPenn, Philadelphia's professional new play development organization, will hold its ninth annual New Play Development Conference from today, July 12-28 at the Adrienne Theater (2030 Sansom Street) in Philadelphia. The Conference will feature two-and-a-half weeks of intensive work on six works-in-progress by Gabriel Jason Dean (Terminus); Lisa Dillman (No Such Thing); Deborah Zoe Laufer (Informed Consent); Peter Gil-Sheridan (Cockfight); James Ijames (A Thousand Kinds of Silence); and Joe Waechter (Profiles).

PlayPenn is pleased to announce two additional events for its 2013 Conference, readings of works-in-progress by playwrights Thomas Gibbons (Uncanny Valley) and Willy Holtzman (The First Mrs. Rochester) on Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 23, respectively. These works are presented in addition to the public readings of the six plays receiving the full resources of PlayPenn's 2013 Conference, which are scheduled for July 25-28. Both playwrights will benefit from hearing their plays read before a live audience, which will inform the future evolution of their scripts.
