The Skirball Cultural Center presents The Singing Posters: Poetry Sound Collage Sculpture Book, artist Allen Ruppersberg's homage to poet Allen Ginsberg's famous poem Howl (1955-1956). It will be on view from May 7 through August 23, 2015. Ruppersberg first conceived of the work when he discovered that his students at UCLA had never heard of the poem. For the artist, it was a way to introduce Howl - which marks its sixtieth anniversary this year - to a new generation. By examining this seminal work of Ginsberg - a prominent American Jewish poet, free thinker, and voice of the Beat Generation - Ruppersberg revives the spirit of the era.

The Art Institute of Chicago is pleased to announce Puppets!, an interactive installation for all ages celebrating the art of puppetry, opening December 6, 2014, and continuing through June 6, 2015. Puppets! will include unique performances, puppet-making workshops, and the opportunity for visitors to the Art Institute's Ryan Education Center to interact and explore creativity through puppets. Inspiration for these fantastical and imaginative puppet creations are drawn from works in the Art Institute's collection, including the monumental drawing The Temptation of St. Anthony, the centerpiece of this winter's special exhibition, Temptation: The Demons of James Ensor. Puppeteers of all ages can experiment with ways to develop stories and use sound effects and props in order to create playful, one-of-a-kind performances.

MAD ABOUT ART, Fountain Gallery's Annual Art Auction and Benefit, will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2013, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Cedar Lake, located at 547 West 26th Street in Manhattan. This year's event is “A Black and White Affair,” featuring striking black and white décor; the 500 guests expected to attend are requested to wear black and white cocktail attire. One hundred original artworks will be presented at auction to benefit the member-artists of Fountain Gallery, New York City's premier venue representing artists living with mental illness. The 2013 Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), presented by American Express, today announced the participants of the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival Artists Awards Program, sponsored by CHANEL. Twelve contemporary artists, including Stephen Hannock, David Kratz, Curtis Kulig, Gillian Laub, Robert Longo, Angelina Nasso, Erik Parker, Jose Parla, Joyce Pensato, Clifford Ross, William Wegman and Dustin Yellin will donate their artwork to be presented to the filmmakers whose films are selected by the TFF jury as winners in their respective categories.
