Pacific Symphony Celebrates The Iranian New Year

Pacific Symphony, in its ongoing quest to present a broad array of musical genres for diverse audiences, will celebrate the Iranian New Year festival of Nowruz, which marks the arrival of spring and has been celebrated since ancient times. Presented in collaboration with the Farhang Foundation, this special concert led by Music Director Carl St.Clair will take place on March 24 at 7 p.m.

Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival (CCCMF) announces the celebration of 40 years as Cape Cod's premiere presenter of summer chamber music with its 2019 summer season, presenting 12 compelling concerts from August 1 through 23, 7:30 pm, at locations throughout the region.  The Festival is programmed under the leadership of Artistic Directors Jon Nakamatsu and Jon Manasse, and Executive Director Elaine Lipton. 

Acclaimed Pianist Winston Choi Joins New Philharmonic For Saint-Saëns' Piano Concerto

Acclaimed pianist Winston Choi returns to the McAninch Arts Center  (MAC) for two concerts with New Philharmonic under the baton of Maestro Kirk Muspratt, Saturday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 14 at 3 p.m. The program will include Charles-Camille Saint-Saens' Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, featuring Choi, and Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 27.

Two American opera singers noted for their theatricality – one on the rise, the other an international star – headline the second George London Foundation recital of the season. Anthony Dean Griffey, the renowned tenor whose searing interpretation of the title role of Britten's Peter Grimes, among others, has brought him worldwide acclaim, and Amy Owens, a “scene-stealing” (Broadway World) “radiant soprano” (Opera News) who won an award at the 2018 George London Awards competition, perform the second George London Foundation Recital of the season at The Morgan Library and Museum on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at 4:00 pm. They are joined by Warren Jones at the piano, and guest artists David Heiss, cello, and Cindy Wu, violin.

O WESTERN WIND Concert Celebrates 50 Years Of Western Wind

The Grammy-nominated Western Wind vocal sextet will present O Western Wind… celebrating the 50th Anniversary of The Western Wind Vocal Ensemble which began in 1969.  The 50th Anniversary Gala Concert will be Saturday, March 23 at 8:00 pm at Merkin Concert Hall (129 West 67th Street, New York City). A Gala Reception at the hall will follow the concert. The event will honor the 50-year career of founding member and countertenor William Zukof, who will be stepping down from his singing role in August 2019. THE ANCHORESS to Get World Premiere At the Kimmel Center

The Anchoress, a new monodrama by composer David Ludwig, "a composer with something urgent to say" (Philadelphia Inquirer), will have its world premiere today, October 17, 2018 at 7:30 PM at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia under the auspices of the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society. The next evening, Thursday, October 18, the New York premiere will take place at DiMenna Center for Classical Music. Set to texts by Katie Ford, whose poetry "possess[es] the veiled brilliance of stained glass windows seen at night" (The New York Times Book Review), The Anchoress is based on the medieval mystic tradition called anchorism and its relationship to contemporary society. It will be performed by soprano Hyunah Yu, the early music ensemble Piffaro: The Renaissance Wind Band, and all-saxophone PRISM Quartet.

CSO To Perform Handel's MESSIAH In Its Entirety

CSO Music Director Rossen Milanov leads the Columbus Symphony, guest soprano Alexandra Razskazoff, guest mezzo-soprano Siena Licht Miller, guest tenor Jonas Marcel Hacker, guest bass-baritone Andrew Bogard, and the Columbus Symphony Chorus in an unforgettable performance of Handel's deeply spiritual oratorio, Messiah. The work will be performed in its entirety and is the first time the Columbus Symphony has done so since 2010.
