Hurricane Sandy has caused the cancellation of much of New York's theatre over the past few days. All Broadway shows are back up and running, with many offering post-hurricane discounts and special offers. Many of the city's off-Broadway and off-off Broadway theatres are still struggling. While shows on Broadway have returned to their normal performance schedules, many of the city's off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway theatres are still struggling. Vineyard Theatre (Douglas Aibel, Artistic Director and Sarah Stern, Co-Artistic Director) proudly announces a one-night-only reading of Becky Mode's acclaimed play FULLY COMMITTED - with Mark Setlock returning to his "sparkling tour de force" (NY Post) performance - which will benefit The Vineyard's productions and programs in 2012-2013. The Huntington's production of Harold Pinter's BETRAYAL opens on Wednesday, November 14 at 7pm, Avenue of the Arts / BU Theatre. The production is directed by Maria Aitken. The cast includes Alan Cox, Mark H. Dold, Gretchen Egolf, and Luis Negrón. Check out production photos inside!

Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), continues its 20th anniversary season with J.M. Barrie's stirring, lyrical tale about the tricks of time, loss of innocence and eternal youth. "Mary Rose" opens tonight, October 31, 2012, with a limited run through November 18 in the Studio Theatre of the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center (HVPA) on the campus of HCC.

Due to extensive power outages in downtown Manhattan as a result of the hurricane, Vineyard Theatre (108 E. 15 St. in Union Square) is cancelling performances of its world-premiere production of CHECKERS until further notice, starting this evening, Tuesday, October 30.

Due to Hurricane Sandy, the preview performances (Saturday, November 3 at 3:00pm and 7:00pm and Sunday, November 4 at 3:00pm) of the new musical LOUIS ARMSTRONG: JAZZ AMBASSADOR have been canceled. The World-Premiere new musical with book by Myla Churchill (Making Books Sing's "A Band of Angels") and featuring music made famous by Louis Armstong will continue to open on schedule on Sunday, November 4 at 6:00pm at Theater 3 (311 West 43rd Street) in Manhattan, it has been announced by Making Books Sing Artistic Director, Barbara Zinn-Krieger.

Vineyard Theatre will open its 30th Anniversary season with the world premiere production of Douglas McGrath's play CHECKERS. Opening night is set for tonight, October 28th. The production will be directed by Terry Kinney, it has been announced by The Vineyard's Artistic Director Douglas Aibel and Co-Artistic Director Sarah Stern.

Vineyard Theatre announced today the extension of the world premiere of CHECKERS, a play by Academy Award nominated writer Douglas McGrath (Bullets Over Broadway), directed by Terry Kinney (Reasons To Be Pretty, After Ashley), through Sunday, December 2.

Yale Repertory Theatre, in a co-production with American Repertory Theater, presents the world premiere of Marie Antoinette by David Adjmi, directed by Rebecca Taichman. Marie Antoinette will be performed at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street) October 26 through November 17. Opening Night is Thursday, November 1. The cast includes Fred Arsenault, Hannah Cabell, David Greenspan, Marin Ireland, Vin Knight, Jo Lampert, Polly Lee, Steven Rattazzi, Jake Silbermann, Teale Sperling, Brian Wiles, and Ashton Woerz.

Hartford Stage, under the leadership of Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts, announced the lineup for Brand:NEW Fall Festival of New Works, scheduled today, October 25 - 28. The Festival will include readings of five new plays by Octavio Solis, Bess Wohl, Dan O'Brien, Matthew Lopez and Janine Nabers, as well as a playwrights' panel on October 28 at 4:30 p.m.

Oya can run faster than anyone-but not fast enough to escape her destiny. Shirley Jo Finney directs the long-awaited Los Angeles premiere of In the Red and Brown Water. Lyrically weaving together elements of urban contemporary realism with West African mysticism, Tarell Alvin McCraney's lusciously theatrical and boldly original new play opens at The Fountain Theatre tonight, October 20.

Premieres Artistic Director Paulette Haupt has announced that the company will present Inner Voices, an evening of three one-act solo musicals beginning Saturday, November 10 at 8pm, at 30th Street Theater, 259 West 30th Street. The opening is scheduled for Sunday, November 18 at 3pm.
