National Arts Club to Present Dashi Namdakov Exhibit, 6/16-30

The Russian American Foundation is pleased to present The Nomad, Memory of the Future, the largest exhibition in the United States of works by Dashi Namdakov, a renowned Buryat artist and sculptor. Curated by Marina Kovalyov, the exhibition will be on view June 16-30, 2013 at the National Arts Club and will feature over 60 pieces including bronze sculptures, graphic art and jewelry. The exhibition will showcase the artist's extraordinary craftsmanship and highly original style, which blends visual art traditions and techniques of the East and the West. The Namdakov exhibition will be part of the 11th Annual Russian Heritage Month, a celebration of events and exhibits highlighting Russian culture.
The Old Globe to Offer THINKING SHAKESPEARE LIVE! Program, 6/15

The Old Globe today announced THINKING SHAKESPEARE LIVE!, a 90-minute presentation exploring the language of Shakespeare, on Saturday, June 15 at 11 a.m. Led by Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein and assisted by three professional classical actors, this special program based on Edelstein's book, THINKING SHAKESPEARE: A HOW-TO GUIDE FOR STUDENT ACTORS, DIRECTORS, AND ANYONE ELSE WHO WANTS TO FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE WITH THE BARD, will reveal a performer's approach to Shakespearean language so audiences may easily understand the poetry of the Bard. An ideal introduction to Shakespeare for families and young audiences, THINKING SHAKESPEARE LIVE! will take place on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Uma Thurman has signed on for Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman's upcoming biopic ANITA, a film about the life of anti-gay activist Anita Bryant. Chad Hodge penned the screenplay.

The New Jersey Theatre Alliance and Midtown Direct Rep will present a reading of the play 7.5 Wondrous Act(s) of True Love by Jeremy Desmon as part of Midtown Direct Rep's recently launched play development series focused on new and innovative American theatre. Today's March 17th reading is part of The Stages Festival, an annual statewide program that provides discounted and free theatre performances, workshops and events throughout the month of March. This performance, typically $15 per ticket, will have a limited quantity of free tickets available as part of the Stages Festival. (Limit two per patron while supplies last).

Holy movie marathon Batman! ABC Family kicks up some excitement, with a two day "Batman" marathon. The marathon starts with "Batman Forever" on Saturday, April 6th (1:00PM ET/PT) and will conclude with the ABC Family premiere of "Batman Begins" on Sunday, April 7th (8:00PM ET/PT).
