Fiery yet disarmingly open-hearted, the new album from John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension, To The One, bravely takes on the artistic and spiritual challenges first offered by Coltrane's jazz masterpiece A Love Supreme, while making extensive use of the pioneering musical and technical vocabulary that McLaughlin has honed since the beginning of his storied career.

Gavin Creel is set to perform his new cabaret, Back to New York at Birdland on Mondays, November 1, 8, and 15 at 7pm. Creel is returning from appearing in the West End production of Hair after appearing in the Broadway production last year. Creel has also appeared on Broadway in Thorougly Modern Millie.

Grammy award-winner John McLaughlin is known as an extraordinary solo artist, a collaborator and sideman for artists such as Miles Davis, as the leader of both the ground breaking Mahavishnu Orchestra and the revolutionary indo-jazz group Shakti, and as the composer of some of the most stunning classical jazz-fusion pieces written. Through the almost four decades of his career, one constant has been his artistry as a guitarist and improviser.

The National Jazz Museum in Harlem announces its August 2010 Schedule. This month of public programs presented by the National Jazz Museum in Harlem features retrospectives (Louis Armstrong and Hank Jones), discussions with two of the most prominent and influential contemporary saxophonists (Joe Lovano and Steve Coleman) as well as a talk with top jazz journalist Bill Milkowski, and live performances that riff on the connection between visual art and jazz, by trumpeter Marcus Printup and trombonist Ryan Keberle at the Rubin Museum of Art, and the NJMH All Stars at the Studio Museum in Harlem.
