The Hollywood Reporter stated today that Martha Plimpton, currently starring in the Broadway revival of Pal Joey at Studio 54, will be part of the cast of the new Showtime pilot 'The End of Steve.'

Understudy Matthew Risch has taken over the title role of Joey Evans in PAL JOEY for an injured Christian Hoff. Hoff has withdrawn from the Broadway musical due to his injury. Risch in a classic theatrical twist of fate now will head the Roundabout revival. The official press opening night is delaying one week later than originally planned to December 18th to allow for this sudden cast change.

Understudy Matthew Risch has stepped into the title role of Joey Evans in PAL JOEY while an injured Christian Hoff rests. Hoff injured his foot Friday evening and the production cancelled the Saturday Matinee on November 22nd. Risch will continue in the role for tonight's special Monday night performance.

Wicked, the Broadway smash musical and winner of 20 major awards, including a Grammy Award and three Tony Awards, is based on the bestselling novel by Gregory Maguire about two witches in the Land of Oz. Composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz, book writer Winnie Holzman, and producer Marc Platt will discuss the process of adapting the novel to create the stage musical that would become a Broadway blockbuster. Mayor Gavin Newsom proclaimed 'A WICKED Day in San Francisco,' welcoming the international phenomenon back to the city where it had its world premiere. At a special Homecoming Party in Union Square, WICKED Producer David Stone accepted a proclamation from Luis Cancel, Director of Cultural Affairs for the City and County of San Francisco on behalf of Mayor Newsom. Producer David Stone was in San Francisco for the Homecoming as tickets went on sale for the open-ended engagement of WICKED, which begins performances at the Orpheum Theatre January 27, 2009. He was joined by cast members performing in Union Square for a group of enthusiastic fans.
